Cook or 3 1st rd picks?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Which side?

Cook or 3 1st rd picks?

Postby grandmabetty » Wed Jun 10, 2020 4:17 pm

team in sig below. The offer is for 3 2021 1sts for cook. Im defending champion so mine is projected late while the other two are projected top 4. I already said no but just gauging what others think. He has Barkley and I countered offering those picks and hollywood for Barkley but he declined.

It's pretty fair, but given your team build, you have to make this trade and go for the ship. Also, have to consider that Kamara could hold out.
12 Team - PPR - 30man (2 IR) - 6pt PPTD- 1 QB - 2 RB - 2 WR - 1 Flex - 1 TE
QB: Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, Anthony Richardson, Aidan O'Connell

WR: AJB, London, Aiyuk, Diontae Johnson, Rashee Rice, Ridley, McLaurin, Dotson, Rashod Bateman

2024: 1.01, 1.07

Three 1sts for Cook seems steep long term to me with two being early.

If you're contending, it's not cheap, but I'd probably go with it it it meant a shot at the championship.

I have Cook and Mattison on one of my sig teams with a current offer of two 2021 1st's and a 2nd, all figuring to be mid to late. He's asking me if we're close but has no additional 1st/2nd picks to deal, only players. I feel the team could contend with one more solid starting RB behind Cook, so I'm not that anxious to deal him unless it's a crazy offer. If those two 1st's in my offer were top 4 and I'd be looking at a couple of shots at Chase, Chuba, or Etienne, I'd been thinking real hard about it.

That's a great price for Cook, gimme the 3x 1sts easily.

Rebuilding I'd want the picks.

Competing I would not give three. I think two is fair or two and a player. Do one of the early ones plus yours. Reason for not doing all three is you can probably get two very useful rbs for the three instead of just one probably top five with the holdout concerns.
Team 1:
PPR--QB, RBx2, WRx3, TE, Superflex, Flex x2
QBs: Lawrence, Stafford, Geno, Hooker, Rush
RBs: Ekeler, Kamara, Achane, Elijah Mitchell, Dillon, Kelley, Moss, Jamaal Williams
WRs: Adams, Hopkins, Waddle, Kirk, JSN, Boyd, OBJ, Hyatt
TEs: Kelce, Hockenson, Taysom, Irv Smith

and then a few minor players and rookie stashed on taxi

Fair value if you think two of the three should be early

But you're defending champ. You play to win ships. Your team looks solid, it didn't luck it's way to victory or now has the age cliff hitting you in the face.

Keep Cook and try to repeat

Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Dobbins, Achane, Charbonnet, Algier, McBride, waiver trash

TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave

Not really a Cook fan, as he can't stay on the field. I wouldn't feel great about moving 3 2021 1sts for him, but if you're competing and adding him to that roster I'd get it though.

Sorry maybe I phrased this poorly. Another team offered me cook for my 3 2021 1sts. I declined

Pass. Keep the picks. If a team wants to trade 3 firsts for a player to make a run, wait until mid season to make sure that player is doing well and not hurt. This past season, I waited until the deadline and used 4 firsts, Sutton, and other players to acquire cmac and MT. I don't think I would have traded 3 firsts for cook at the time. I don't value him that high. Two, yes.

I'll take the picks no matter your team's situation. If you do need another RB in-season (and you may not!), then one of those picks could easily be used for a one-year rental guy (think of, say, Drake in 2019). I'd MUCH rather do that and keep the other picks. I think that Cook could be ripe for a huge fall after this year.

You're asking during a hold out in June. When he has the pads on week 1, Cook will be winning this in a landslide.
