So I'm really high on jt. Is this insane?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Postby zarathustra » Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:46 pm

RB scarcity is outrageous in my league. I like the idea of starting 3 stud rbs most weeks.

Am I crazy to offer hopkins for jt and 2.02? The idea would be to trade an rb away for a big payday. Lamar, mahomes, kittle, younger stud wr, etc.

Does it shoot me in the foot in terms of competitiveness in the near term?

I’ve seen jt go ahead of Hopkins in a startup or 2 so getting 2.02 on top in a league you only start 2 WRs and a flex is certainly not crazy. Giving up some value going that big for a rookie but I don’t think it’s crazy.

I didn't think so either but I put a poll up in another dynasty community's Facebook group...and it was unanimous on hopkins side...

Hopkins is certainly the safer asset, but I'm not surprised this is where Taylor's price is. He will be running behind one of the best lines and was one of the best college football RBs for his career. As others have mentioned, he has gone before Hopkins in three of three startups for me this summer.

With Nuk's age I'd say it's about a push with regard to productive longevity. So, it's not crazy at all in my book. Have you already had the rookie draft? I see you have the 1.06. Are you trading for the rights to a pick that you plan to take JT with?

I would be taking jt with 1.02. 1.06, as of today, id actually is to pick lamb most likely.

Ok. If you can get JT and target best WR at 1.06 I think it's easier to justify. Your WRs will take a hit at least in the short term, but you could add another WR at 2.02 if it's BPA. Nuk is probably worth two 1sts, but getting JT and an early 2nd is enough for me. You have to decide if that's enough for you, though. Some on here will say no way to this deal, but that's part of the fun of dynasty. We all value players at least a little uniquely. I tend to be an ageist myself, giving extra weight to youth and upside. Others will be more comfortable going for older and more proven vets. You build it how you want it. If you want JT and this is what it takes to land him, go for it so long as your able to stomach the roster transformation.

I myself moved Nuk for Swift and Reagor. That was an orphan I took over and had zero at RB. I grabbed CEH at 1.01 and swift at 1.05. Have 4wrs I like to grow with my young upside rookies, so I decided it was worth selling a little cheap. My team would have zero chance at competing the next 3-4 years without the deal. And by then Nuk would most likely be on the decline.

I'd probably dangle Chubb for an upgrade at another position. See what shakes out.

I am not high on AZ so I would do this trade as well. Hop is the man but I donno if I trust everyone else to get it together enough for him to duplicate his years in Houston.

Wait, wait, wait. You're trading Hopkins to get an RB to trade an RB to get a payday...? Why not just trade Hopkins for the payday? Otherwise, I think that you'll lose on value on both parts.

Now, if this is really about getting Taylor, then forget about the second trade. I think that this is a huge overpay for Taylor. But, if he's your guy, then I wouldn't criticize you at all for making this move.

It's not crazy, though I think it makes your team worse to contend next season.

Side note, not sure why there is a narrative that Hopkins is old, but you never hear that chatter surround Adams or Thomas, who are close in age.

I can say for me personally it is his age with the trade to AZ. I am also low on Adams, I think he is overrated and would sell him as well, I think Green Bay is one injury from disaster. Thomas on the Saints to me is rock solid value I can find no areas to be concerned. Not saying I would give them away or they are done but I think this is the year you can get peak value and it only goes down from here.
