We are in the midst of our startup draft. I certainly didn't plan it this way. Just went ahead and drafted who I felt was the best available talent each pick. Outside of my Wentz pick. That was my only need pick.
The one catch is you can only keep 7 of your first 10 draft choices. So do you reach on some not so desirable RB types? Maybe a aging vet QB type for one year. Or keep on with the current strategy BPA?

Startup No RB Strategy?
Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
so you do a start up then only keep 7 of the top 10 round guys? That's weird I don't like that haha, then are they free agents for FAAB? I guess keep going with BPA since you have to give away the next few players anyway?

Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
I would continue going BPA at this point.
Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
Actually we will have two off season drafts. The rookie and a supplemental draft. It was the way they set it up so bad teams could have a better chance of improving.
Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
Guessing you had the 1.08-1.10ish and went Kittle/Murray at the 1-2, Godwin/Dobbins at the 3-4, Wentz/JuJu at the 5-6 and Ridley/McLaurin at the 7-8?
Good draft so far. In a 2PPR TE league Kittle is a first round pick so you got a good deal with Murray around there too. Seen Godwin and Dobbins go in most 3rds so whoever fell to the 4th is a nice find and you did it again with Wentz and JuJu, who I've seen mostly go in the 4-5th round range.
Keep taking BPA. Don't punt RB, but you can patch that position up with future trades if better prospects keep falling.

Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
When and why do you have to drop them? At the end of the season? Strange way to do a keeper league. Maybe fill up with IDP players now? No idea, this is a format I have no experience with.

Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
Yeah I had the 7th pick and went with Murray first and grabbed Kittle in the second round. Followed up with Godwin, Dobbins, Wentz, Juju, Ridley and McLaurin. Dobbins went in a sandwich of Swift and Akers in the 4th.
In the off season because those are the league rules. Not ideal but I was thinking of holding off on defense until the 11th round on. That way I can keep any of them.

Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
Added D Samuel with my next pick.
Would you guys make either of these draft pick trades? Moving out of the final spot of possibly not being a keeper. To two picks that could be kept.
Give 114 (10th)
Give 199 (17th)
Get 126 (11th)
Get 150 (13th)
Or
Give 114 (10th)
Get 126 (11th)
Get 163 (14th)

Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
I would trade 114 and 199 for 126 and 150 based on my understanding of the format. If you've drafted correctly, the 10th rounder would be thrown back anyway, so why not get 2 picks you get to keep?
Re: Startup No RB Strategy?
Yes, only catch is we can't keep multiple rounds. But it would make me stronger now. While giving me a double shot at a keeper player. If I miss on one of the selections.
The trades are both takes by the one calculator. Over 100 for a take trade one 122 and trade two 136.
