SF startup draft

Postby Konehead94 » Sun May 24, 2020 6:34 am

First year dynasty player, doing a SF 12 team full ppr startup draft and Mahomes went 1st overall.. I have the second pick and have been trying to trade down but nobody seems to want to move up.. do I take the no brainer here and go CMC or go Lamar/saquon possibly?

Rb: Saquon, Gibson, mostert, rojo, chase Edmonds,

I wouldn’t call CMC a no brainer here. I’d personally go Lamar Jackson.

Welcome to the board. Next time, use the "Team Advice" sub forum, but all good. So may ways to go. CMC or Barkley are fine choices. I'm not as high on Lamar as most. You can entertain trading back, but be very careful, as it can get you in to trouble if you are new and can't gauge value properly. Building in a SF, you don't need to go QB heavy, you just need to pick your spots and make sure you get a couple of good starters, and aren't left on the back side of a "run", where QB's start flying off the board. You will have a lot of time between your picks, so be wary of this. You will get a couple in a short span, then have to wait a while before picking again, being so close to "the turn" of the snake draft.

I think it is personal preference but you are unlikely to go wrong with

CMC
Barkley
Jackson
Watson

I certainly would have no issues if you took someone else like Zeke, Kamara or Thomas. Personal preference first, what everyone else tells you to do second.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

This will be an unpopular opinion but I probably would’ve gone CMC and Barkley. The gap between The RB1s and RB2s is far greater than the gap between the QB1s and QB2s imo

I've seen too many people burned by running QBs with their year to year inconsistency and shorter prime. If it were me I'd click Barkley and not think twice about it.

There’s a top 4 so whoever you like from cmc Barkley Jackson. It’s Barkley for me, as someone noted above just make sure you get a few good starting QBs.

Welcome to the boards, welcome to dynasty. My advice is going to be specifically for a 12 team league. If it's a 10 teamer go with CMC or Barkley, if it's 14+ go Jackson.

I think your choice is going to come down to what type of team you want to build. And yes I'm serious, your very first choice, number 2 overall is going to greatly influence your team build. Why do I say this? Let's consider 3 players here: Jackson, Barkley, and CMC. Barkley and CMC are similar values and slightly different types of rbs but I don't think you can go wrong with either. Barkley does have one fewer season in the NFL. The biggest thing to note is that RBs have the shortest fantasy careers and their fantasy output can drop dramatically. QBs tend to have longer fantasy production though with Jackson getting so many of his points on the ground, maybe he takes a bad hit eventually. If you take a RB here, you should be building a win now team. You shouldn't be investing too heavily in rookies and should consider going for some older vets at wr and rb. Jackson allows you a little more flexibility, but as I said before he does a lot of his damage on the ground.

Id view Barkley and CMC as a 2-3 year window and Jackson as a 4-5 year window.
