Am I crazy to be considering Vaughn at 9?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Am I crazy to be considering Vaughn at 9?

Postby zoster80 » Sun May 17, 2020 7:00 am

This is for Zo Nasty below.

Draft is tonight. The top 8 are probably going to be the usual suspects. I’m going have to make the choice of Either Reagor/Ruggs or Jefferson at 9. If Jefferson is there I’ll take him, but he’s not I’ve been trying move back to 11 or 2.1 to not reach on Vaughn, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I’ve seen a lot draft with him going late first, is taking him at 9 too much of a reach?

I just don’t see Rojo keeping that job and his tape has Not been as bad as I was hearing.

I'm considering him at 1.12 basically because of positional need. Lots of other players I would rather take.

It depends. Do you love Vaughn as a player, or do you love the situation?

If you love Vaughn as a player, then, no, it's not too early. Just take your guy.

If you love the situation, then, yes, it's too early.

Situations are fluid; talent is steady.

Vaughn is legit. He was top 5-7 ranked rb, before the draft, by ppf and Waldman. His running style and comp is David Johnson 2.0 and Bruce will use him the exact same way. He has size, speed, receiving chops and profiles as a three down back and I personally believe he is their 3 down back.

He will probably be in a full RBBC to start or end the season because rookies tend not to hold up to the rigors of the NFL, but he is not a reach at 9.

Is Ruggs really a WR1 for scoring? Jefferson....in Minny....at the same position as Theilan? Reagor at 185 lbs? These guys are really good talents and probably will have long and productive NFL carerrs, but they do not strike me as the BMOC on anybodys team. Just really nice WR2. You get shots at guys like this in the back of the first every year. Rarely do you get a shot at a three down starting back on a good team at the 1.09.

If you like him, take him.

This article was promising....focuses on his pass pro and opportunity. I have the RB need too, I don’t like to draft need usually, but nobody is interested in moving up because they see that 2nd tier as all similar upside.

I would say draft the best player available and trade for need. While Rojo isn’t a stud he showed a tonne of growth last year that would make me hesitant to reach for Vaughn. I think if Jefferson is available you should jump all over him.

If he is your guy, no reason not to take him. It seems early to me though.
