Picking My Own Draft Slot

Just won the lottery for picking our draft slot in my home dynasty league. 10 teams SF, IDP (defensive scoring is even with offense), tiered PPR (.5 RB, 1 WR, 1.5 TE). 55 roster spots, start 11 for offense and 11 for defense, 10 taxi, 5 IR. We are drafting individual rookie picks in the startup draft.

Which slot would you prefer in this type of league?

You're drafting individual 2020 or 2021 draft picks? If it's 2020 you should just stick them all in the startup draft.

As for position I want something in the middle probably 4.

I don't really know because it so depends on how everyone drafts. If you have 4 people in tier 1, then take a top 4. I like to trade. So, I would take 1 and trade it. If you can even get another 1st and 5th rounder, I think it is a win.

The first pick is the most valuable, so I would take that. And then if you prefer a later pick, anything from 2-10, you should be able to trade back. Anything you get on top to move back would be free. So if you prefer spot 8, I'd take the first pick, and then try to trade back with the 8th pick. Doesn't make much sense to me to just pick the 8th pick right off the bat.

In a 10 team SF league, I am taking Mahomes #1. In a 16 team league in which I only need to start 1 QB I wouldn't and would definitely not be selecting the #1 slot if I had a choice.

In a 10 team SF league, I am taking Mahomes #1. In a 16 team league in which I only need to start 1 QB I wouldn't and would definitely not be selecting the #1 slot if I had a choice.

I'm also taking mahomes 1.01 in that format

But in regards to your question take slot 1 if trading during startup is possible, you'll have the most valuable picks and can control the boards via trade backs

I would definitely not take Mahomes at 1.01 in a 10 team SF league. You can get quality qbs wayyy later in that format than you can get a stud RB. Still, I’d take pick 1.01 and then either trade back or take McCaffrey or Barkley.

all depend on how confident you are that this league will last at least 5 years. if confident, then take mahomes. 2.10 and 3.01 are solid picks to add RBs or WRs.
