Vaughn over Akers/lamb/jeudy

Postby nicktahoes » Sat May 09, 2020 9:12 am

For my team one in the signature I have pick 1.07. Would Vaughn be ok to take over Akers, Lamb or Jeudy? I am looking mostly for 2020 production as my team is really just lacking a second RB.
Team 1:
PPR--QB, RBx2, WRx3, TE, Superflex, Flex x2
QBs: Lawrence, Stafford, Geno, Hooker, Rush
RBs: Ekeler, Kamara, Achane, Elijah Mitchell, Dillon, Kelley, Moss, Jamaal Williams
WRs: Adams, Hopkins, Waddle, Kirk, JSN, Boyd, OBJ, Hyatt
TEs: Kelce, Hockenson, Taysom, Irv Smith

and then a few minor players and rookie stashed on taxi

If you are desperately needing a RB, I’d go Cam Akers. If you’re going for the best longterm player with highest upside, Ceedee Lamb should be your guy.

It would be against the consensus but there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm not sure why Vaughn is considered this huge reach while Akers is a consensus pick ahead of Jeudy/Lamb. If you want a RB I don't really see much difference between the two. Akers gets a pass for his miserable college efficiency because he played behind a bad line, but Vaughn doesn't for playing against Vandy against much better defenses? Bizarre.

The ONLY thing Akers has going for him is that he was a bigtime recruit long ago. Vaughn outperformed him in college on a team that was just as bad (if not worse) while playing against a tougher schedule. Akers has thin legs and poor lateral agility. He's a straight line runner that doesn't break tackles particularly well. I really don't get what people see in him. And now Vaughn is on a better team in the NFL to boot. They have similar competition in the NFL in terms of day 2 picks that were disappointing being their primary competition.

Akers is a sexier name because he was once considered an elite NFL prospect. But in reality that ship sailed alongside his disappointing college production and tape for me. I would rather have Vaughn over him, personally, but I would trade back to do so because virtually everyone else would draft Akers first.

Even if you don’t trust Akers, I don’t see how you can select Vaughn over Jeudy or Lamb.

Vaughn would be a stretch for me at that position. I honestly don't see him as a big improvement over RoJo. If he's your guy, I would trade back a few spots and pick up assets. He will be there in the early 2nd in a superflex and someone will definitely pay to move from 2.01 to 1.07.

Completely agree with this. Kinda seems like you aren't very excited about Lamb, Jeudy, or Akers which is fine, but you should maximize your value because somebody in your league will absolutely move up for them.

I've seen Vaughn go 1.07 in 1QB and thought it was a reach. This is such a hard pass for me. I'd take Lamb or Jeudy over Vaughn regardless of having depth at WR and a clear need at RB.

Vaughn being overdrafted reminds me so much of Semaje Perine a few years ago. “Who else is there? He will totally be the starter there!”

Im not super high on Vaughn (at least not high enough to take him over those 3). Vaughn is a late 1st/ early 2nd to me. If you are set on taking RB, I’d definitely go Akers over him. Can’t fault you for going the WRs over him either, but I’d definitely take any of the 3 over him.

For sure and Royce freeman rocketing up draft boards a couple years ago. The “he’s the starter for sure” mentality can get you in a lot of trouble.
Rojo isn’t dead, he just absolutely sucks at pass blocking. Not a great fit for a brady offense, but he will still get touches and dare could get the 3rd down role. Sure Vaughn could conceivably take the job, or he could get 33% of the load... not touching him in the 1st round of a SF.
