Difference between OBJ and JT

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Difference between OBJ and JT

Postby TheGoat21 » Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:32 am

For team two in sig (SF) I was trying to get Jonathan Taylor and the owner wants OBJ from me. Would this be a dumb move for myself? He is offering pieces with JT that don't amount to a ton. How do you guys feel between OBJ and JT?

Personally, I would have a tough time parting ways with an established top tier WR for a rookie who hasn't shown anything and especially with this off-season the way it has been.

That's my thoughts on a straight up deal. I think you could get more for OBJ.

I might be in the minority but I don't think the gap is too big at all. JT landed in a great spot and OBJ hasn't finished in the top 12 receivers in the last 3 years plus he is in a very crowded offense.

We have a second rookie draft coming up and I could get some money for that added in, but I would only probably get people like Tyler Johnson or Antonio Gibson (complete fliers). I also could try and get someone like Preston Williams thrown in.

I do get it is a risky move though. Rookie fever is in full effect and even some fool proof prospects have busted.

Beckham is the established piece and still has big value name wise. Taylor landed in a spot but is still an unknown at this level. Beckham is worth more but by how much would vary significantly owner to owner.

I'm trying to angle to give up Diggs, Guice and a 2022 first for JT and Preston Williams. Is that better?

I have 3 SF rookie drafts ongoing right now. I just acquired OBJ in two of those leagues while I was on the clock. Here are the deals. Hope this helps give you an idea of how he is valued right now. Side note: I didnt go hunting for OBJ. The OBJ owners came to me begging for draft picks.

League 1: Received OBJ for pick 13, 15 and Royce Freeman.
League 2: Received OBJ for pick 10, 2021 2nd, 2021 3rd, Crowder and JJAW

Seems to me like his value is at an all time low.

Haha. Its fair to push him down in the rankings because the last few seasons havent been great. But I think he has fallen to far down in a lot of peoples rankings (plus its draft season so people value picks a lot more). To me, 2017 was a lost season due to injury. 2018 was his last year with Eli (garbage), and 2019 was his first year in a new offense with a slumping QB... and he still managed 1000 yard seasons the last 2 years. Im optimistic that he will bounce back strong, but never be a top 5 asset ever again.
