Draft Sat. Should I try to move up from 1.11/2.03 or stay put?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Draft Sat. Should I try to move up from 1.11/2.03 or stay put?

Postby ff330 » Wed Apr 29, 2020 3:29 pm

12 team PPR, team in sig, slow draft starts this Saturday

Rebuild project probably another year and a really good draft or two away from being competitive. Just two starting RB's and a handful of decent WR's but need quite a bit of help.

I have the 1.03 and had my eye on either Dobbins or maybe Lamb before the NFL draft jumbled things up a bit. Now there's a shot of Swift or even Taylor slipping a spot with CEH moving up so much. Still leaning Dobbins there thinking more about my lack of RB's and his potential to move up to #1 if Ingram goes away next year. The pick could easily come down to a choice from Swift/Dobbins/Lamb at that point.

I also have the 1.11 and 2.03 and have thought about trying to offer them for maybe the 1.05 or 1.06 which DLF analyzer says is about right. There would be a shot of adding Akers there or maybe still a leftover top WR. Staying with those two picks would probably get me a shot at a combo RB/WR pair from a group including Vaughn, Aiyuk, Ruggs, Mims, Higgins, Pittman, Moss, and Edwards. Or I stretch a bit, with just Mahomes on my roster, and add Burrows or Tua with the 2.03 possibly for a later trade to a QB weak owner.

With the multiple needs of this team, is it worth trying to make the move up for a single player of maybe somewhat higher draft capital or landing spot? Or better to just stick where I am and take the BPA available, assuming one of the RB's or WR's listed above? Appreciate any advice on this from those here. Thx.

I think in a rebuild I'd rather the two shots. That being said if someone you see that should go earlier starts to slip I'd move up for him

Appreciate the comments so far. I would expect Akers and one from Lamb or Jeudy to maybe be around with the 1.05-1.07 range, and those three would probably be my targets. My current 1.11 and 2.03 picks should give me a shot at possibly Mims, Pittman, Aiyuk, Higgins, and Shenault for two WR pickups there with RB's like Vaughn starting around the early 2nd I think. Dobbins and two of those WR's would be a good starting point for this season's draft so I'll have to balance that with a move up for a single player that I like even better.

Like the posted replies said, I need to see how the early 1st round picks unfold and then go from there. I may put out a couple of feelers to the mid-round teams to judge any interest in trading down from them.

Anyone else? Thx.

And any preference for Dobbins or Swift at the 1.03? Swift may have an easier route to starting with KJ's injury issues but it is Detroit after all. Dobbins hopefully plays more as this season winds down and replaces Ingram in 2021 if the Ravens let him walk.

I like Dobbins. Perfect run system to land in and Ingram is old. The staff in Detroit makes me nervous and they will run a committee more than likely long term.

I can appreciate Gator's take ^ but personally I think DET is out on Kerryon and they're going to support Swift all they can. It makes sense to me, why would they limit the upside of a guy they just took #35 overall?

Swift will be legit, in fact what will be fun will be looking back on this draft class a few years later just like we are the 2017 draft class when most people drafted Fournette ahead of CMC, Mixon and Dalvin who are all ranked much higher now

I highly doubt those two picks are going to get you the 1.05 or 1.06. Either way, I wouldn't do it. Your team is in a long term rebuild with a lot of holes, and this is a deep draft. I'd keep the two picks.

With Mahomes on your roster, and with all the holes your team has, there is zero reason to take a QB at 2.03 here.

I easily take Swift over Dobbins at 1.03.

The Dobbins love has gotten out of control for me. Between Lamar Jackson and Ingram, who I do not see going anywhere, that doesn't leave much of anything for Dobbins.
