Trade Offer for McCaffrey

Postby Swids19 » Sun Apr 19, 2020 3:15 pm

Hey guys,

I am considering trying to come up with the best offer to make to the owner of Christian McCaffrey. I don't think he will trade McCaffrey and I personally don't blame him. But is an offer of Joe Mixon & DeAndre Hopkins enough to get McCaffrey in a 2-1 deal? His other 2 RB's are D. Cook & R. Mostert and his best WR is C. Kupp. I don't want to insult him with a bad offer and fact is I may not have enough on my Gridiron Knights team to acquire McCaffrey. I have zero picks in this year's draft to offer up but I have my 10 picks in 2021 & 2022 and a second 2021 2nd Rd pick that I could add if needed. What are your guys thoughts? Thanks for your time.

I would not make that trade if I was him. He would only have cook, with that history it would scare me to only rely on him. You could turn that into your favor and go after cook without giving up too much.

Mixon and Hopkins is a fair offer. I doubt it gets accepted, but I think its fair.

I don’t see trading for CMC is in your best interest. It’s going to take at least what you listed if not more. If it was a move that out you over the top, I would understand doing it. But it’s going to thin you out so bad that I can’t see it as net positive for your team. I don’t mean it as a slam, most teams can’t, but your squad can not afford a luxury trade right now, you still have holes to plug first.

STOP everyone stop!

Someone please tell my why in the world CMC is valued over Mixon AND Nuk!?

Hopkins has 3-5 years left of WR1 finishes. Mixon is an RB1 and has less touches than CMC.

This kills me guys, just kills me. If you are selling 2 top 12 players as their position for an RB that has 2, maybe 3 years left of top 5 production, how are you going to build a dynasty?

For example, owner of Saquan knew all this and traded Saquan for Dalvin, and 2 firsts at the beginning of the season. He then trades Dalvin for DJ Moore and 1.09.

So he essentially traded Saquan for DJ Moore, 1.04, 1.09 and a 2021 1st.

He is set to win for a long time.

Baffles me guys, this just baffles me on the overvalue of RBs in dynasty. This is not redraft! Year 4 and 5 RBs are a RISK. The majority of their fantasy points are BEHiND them, not ahead of them.

And per this very website, a DLF writer did a great piece on how since 2013 less than 20% of RBs age 26 or over as an RB1. Thats 2 years of CMC! That’s all! Give me Nuk and Mixon all day long! Now and forever!

Give me AJ Brown, a 1st, David Montgomery and Dede Westbrook, and a 3rd all day long!

Someone please tell me why we give away half our starting lineup and future assets for players that have 2-3 years left of high level production and the biggest injury risk in all of the sport!?!

Fair offer. As someone who owns Hopkins and CMC, I'd probably lean CMC here. I'd need a little more to move someone like CMC, but regardless of value, I don't know that it makes sense for your team. You don't have any depth at WR, and losing Hopkins would hurt you.

As a CMC owner, I would have a very hard time turning down Nuk and Mixon unless my team was absolutely stacked with elite players.

Not sure this makes sense for your team. In a vacuum, pretty fair, but I wouldn't send Mixon and Hopkins for CMC unless it was a small league with small starting requirements and I had the depth

I agree with this. I do not understand how Hopkin and Mixon for CMC is not an auto accept for the CMC owner unless his team is absolutely loaded with studs.

You think he is set for a long time, but the bottom line is that Saquon and Cook have proven that they can play in this league where as now that person has 3 1st RND picks that could all turn out to be TRich or even LTreadwell, Doctson, K White etc... for that matter.

The bottom line is no matter what pick you have it is always a gamble, there is a list a mile long of WR's and RB's that were drafted in 1st RND of fantasy drafts that never worked out at all. Look at Sammy Watkins, decent NFL career but not a good fantasy player and certainly not worth the pick he was picked with in that fantasy draft.

Just another way to look at trading for picks.

I appreciate your post on the other forum about CMC as well. If the argument is the owner could have gotten more, I can see that.

I stand firm on the dynasty community as a whole overvaluing RBs, especially RBs in year 4 or 5. There is also just as long a list of players that had “Massive years” at age 24 and 25. Then hit a major decline at 26-27 and never even saw RB1 status again. David Johnson, Lev Bell, Freeman, Eddie Lacy.... Gurley and Gordon are heading downward now into RB2 territory and only a couple years removed from their RB1 glory.

It’s all preference, you are absolutely right. Give me 3 firsts that are 21 years old to replace CMC. I just don’t have faith in the most volatile position in football, not in dynasty.

Agree to disagree!
