Poll - Preston & Hines for Slayton

Postby dirkey » Tue Apr 07, 2020 2:02 am

Team is in signature.

Guy in my league seems to really want Nyheim Hines. He's been offering me various items for him recently, some including Preston Williams, some not.

First things first, I have a soft spot for Williams, for 2 reasons. 1, I picked him up as FA - always love having someone like that who gives me something back. And, tragically, I'm a Miami Dolphins fan. But I did think he looked pretty good early on last year before the injury. He was outpacing DeVante, who went on to produce pretty good numbers. My hope is he comes back strong from the injury, and benefits from being covered by the #2 CB. Also thinking a bump in the OL and QB and maybe some semblance of a run game could help him. I know, a lot of ifs and hopes .. but that's the joys of being a fan.

Hines - I have hopes that he could see a few more dumpoff passes with Rivers in town. RBs are at a premium in the league as they are everywhere, so he's one who I think could come in and give a few points the odd time, if needed.

Slayton obviously looks great too.

I went ahead and declined the trade .. looking to get people's opinions.

I don't see much difference between Preston and Slayton (couldn't even tell you which one I actually prefer).. The gap is definitely not as much as Hines.

If it’s close I’d go with the guy you like more. I picked up Tyreek Hill as a FA and watching him explode was freaking awesome. Then the whole him being a terrible person and I traded him haha.

I voted for the Preston side but it is close.

I do think Miami drafts a WR and I would be careful holding an UDFA with a checkered past and coming off an ACL. I picked up Preston in the preseason for free and I have the same soft spot for him. I did trade him during the season but have been trying to buy him back.

Slayton does have draft capital (round 3 or 4 I believe) and may be the alpha on the team with Shepard and Tate as the only other WR options. Engram is always hurt and I there are trade rumors about him.

Having said this - maybe I would try to get a later round pick included to the Slayton side.

I like Slayton a lot from what he showed and am not a huge Williams fan, so I'd take Slayton here.

If he has a mid 2nd this year, you might want to counter including it. Slayton looked good, but so did Preston. I picked him up as well, but used him in a trade for K. Allen. The pick could give you extra trade capital or a promising rookie. You also have to factor in a little value for the open roster spot.
