Who Do I Take At 1.03?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Who Do I Take At 1.03?

Postby colt77 » Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:43 pm

Hello everyone, I hope quarantine is treating you well. I was wondering if I could get advice on what you guys think I should do in the rookie draft. I have the 1.03 and wanted Swift or Taylor but they likely are going to be the first 2 picks. I’m contemplating juedy or lamb, but don’t think I need more WRs, but I’m not sure of Dobbins talent. Here’s my team when it comes to Rb and WR depth
RBs: Barkley, Mixon, Penny, Hynes, Armstead, Bernard, Gallman,
WRs: Kupp, Aj Green, Sutton, Diggs, Hollywood, Preston Williams, Perriman

Also forgot to add in I have someone interested in Diggs ready to trade his 1st and 2nd in 2021 for him, but I’d only consider that if I take a WR. His picks would be bad since he’s a big contender though

Personally, I'd look to trade back and add multiple picks if you can to increase your depth rbs are thin after Barkley and Mixon

What would you think about me picking Juedy and then flipping a WR to get an RB?

I agree with the shotgun approach, trade it back for as many picks as possible, even 2nds. If you can't get a great deal done I'd go Lamb.

See where Jeudy and Lamb (and other rookie RBs) land and then figure it out, but honestly, I'd be letting the league know that you're open to moving 1.03 for a nice RB back and see what offers you get. IMO there's a fair bit of owners who don't get as hyped on rookies until they see where they get drafted, and that's when they start feeling they've got to get into the early action. So, if the offers aren't great right away, be patient.

My draft for the sig team is pretty early, usually set for about 2 weeks after the NFL. I'm in the same position with the 1.03 and with only Jacobs and Drake as my starting RB's. Even in our PPR, I expect Taylor and Swift to go in the first two picks. I also am looking at the tough decision between taking Dobbins (who I like) as a need versus Lamb or Jeudy as potentially the BPA. I'll admit the thought of taking the best WR available with the 1.03 and then offering him up in trade for additional draft capital hadn't really occurred to me. I would have just kept him and hoped to add another tier 2 RB/WR with either my 1.11 or 2.03.

Your current WR's are stronger than mine so if you don't feel strong about Dobbins, then I agree with the consensus above. Wait until after the draft for landing positions, and then look to trade back, maybe even while you're OTC. Someone who REALLY wants and needs Lamb might offer something pretty stupid for him. And if no deal is struck by then, you can hang onto him and still have plenty of time to trade.

Unless Taylor or Swift somehow fall to my 1.03, depending on his landing spot, I'm leaning Dobbins due to my lack of RB depth. Many mocks have him going in the 3rd spot before Lamb and Jeudy so I wouldn't feel too bad about that. There's a slight chance of CEH slipping to the 1.11 so he might be my 2nd RB pick, otherwise it's best WR available there and maybe Tua with my 2.03. Good hunting and best wishes to all in these crazy times.....

I would be thrilled to get Dobbins at the 1.03 but I have him in my top 2 at the moment.

I wouldn’t make any definitive plans until the real draft but as a previous owner of the 1.03 I wanted Jeudy...he’s the top WR for me and only 2nd overall for me behind swift pre-draft

Honestly man, what I think is the best thing we all can do is make a list of our personal rankings post draft of course. And you take the player at the top of that list that is there at 1.03, irregardless of position.

To many dynasty players, myself included, draft for team need rather than BPA and their highest rated player. I passed on AJ Brown and Terry McLaurin last year in the 2nd round for RBs like Harris and Snell because I had a “team need” at RB. My approach to the draft is you are drafting talent. If you are primarily using the rookie draft to fill holes in your lineup rather than drafting talent, you are have a different problem to fix!

Boy would i rather have had Brown and McLaurin rather than Snell on my bench even though I have MT, Adams, Juju, Kupp, Golladay.

You can always trade talent for talent. You can’t trade a mediocre player in the position you lack for a talented player at the position you lack.

I am in a similar situation with only really Chubb and Mixon as my RBs and am stacked at WR. I have fallen in love with Lamb since he was in college and honestly when i hear all the comps to Nuk there is no way i would let him past me at 1.03. Obviously, this is a point in time as the draft has not happend and can shift players around. Give me a potential cornerstone/WR1 and i can figure out adding a RB3 later. I also have the 1.07 so if things fall in line i will most likely select RB (Dobbins/Ackers/CEH) there.

Way to early to tell. I think Dobbins could be the best RB in the draft. Look at last year film on all three top RBs and just about anyone can tell you that Dobbins looked the best (aside from possibly Akers). After the draft if Akers lands with the Chiefs, I could see him jumping up the board and could land as a lot of pick 1.1. With how close these rookies are, it will be tough to rank before the NFL draft.

I'm taking Lamb/Jeudy at 1.03 if your top 2 RB targets are gone.

Really think Lamb is gonna be a bonafide stud. Landing spot is always a determinant but he'll be a baller either way.

I would honestly take the BPA and then worry about it later. Too many times people worry about taking need and neglect the top talent on the board. IMO I take Jeudy or Lamb at 3.
