Moving on from Kelce or Kittle

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Moving on from Kelce or Kittle

Postby Kmani6 » Fri Mar 27, 2020 10:16 am

In team 1, I have both Kittle or Kelce. To maximize on value I think I am willing to move on from Kelce/Kittle. I know the obvious move would be to move Kelce and keep Kittle, but I am okay with moving either. The 49ers are clearly looking to bring in a WR1 through the draft with their 13th pick. We saw a bit of a hit in Kittle's production with the addition of sanders and deebo, and now replacing sanders with a younger better WR could further depress his fantasy output.

The other team that is highly interested as he only has McDonald.

His notable RB: Saquon, Mack, Ekeler, Connor, and KJ
His notable WR: Chark, Kupp, and Thielan

I think he would also be willing to move his probable late 2021 1st round pick in a package or something.

Who should I target?
Dynasty Team 1:

10 Man, Full PPR, .2 PPC, Double Flex

QB: Kyler Murray
RB: Saquon Barkley , Breece Hall, Swift, Dobbins, Gibson, CEH
WR: Devante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Jamarr Chase, DK Metcalf, Devonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy
TE: Travis Kelce

2023 Picks: 1.4, 1.8, 2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 3.8

Dynasty Team 2:

10 Man, Half PPR, Double Flex

QB: Tua
RB: Barkley , Mixon, Javonte, Jacobs, CEH
WR: AJB, Tyreek, Lamb, Aiyuk, Bateman
TE: Kittle

2022 Picks: 1.5, 1.6, 2.3
2023 Picks: 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd

The only players on his team that really would interest me are Saquon and Chark. Doubt he would do it but you could always offer Kelce, Gurley and maybe a guy like Keenan Allen for Saquon. I would pay that price to acquire a top 2 Dynasty RB, maybe I'm overpaying but for a guy like that you almost need to.

With being a 10 team league, I would need a very solid package to move either. Barkley is the only really exciting piece on the other roster.

I mean you could try to do 2 out of the 3 but I wouldn't accept it. I would have a hard time accepting Kelce, Gurley and KA for Saquon myself but you could try.

It doesn't look like your potential trade partner is a contender, so I'm not sure why he'd want Kelce. I'd just hold both for depth unless you get a deal that really makes sense for your team.

I wouldn’t move either one of them. Having two elite TEs is a huge advantage, even in a non-TE premium league where you only start one. You’re basically guaranteed to outscore your opponent at TE every single week, which automatically gives you a leg up. Plus, they both score in the same range as a mid-low RB1 or WR1, so the other one will always be an excellent flex option. If you were in a full rebuild, I could see wanting to cash out on Kelce, but on a competing team, I would just ride it out with both of them. You’ll likely never get enough back in trade value to justify giving up the massive positional advantage that owning both gives you.

Well keeping Kittle gives me a solid positional advantage as well.

I have this on the table:

Send Kelce
Receive DJ Chark, 21 1st

I think that’s a 2 first valuation on Kelce, and I like DJ Chark very much as a potential future WR 1. 6 feet 4 inches tall, 4.34 40, 40 inch vert, and golladay-like.

That being said it’s Kelce so I’m not sure

Yes, you’d still have a great positional advantage with just Kittle... except for the week(s) you play against Kelce. That was kinda the point I was trying to make above. It’s not just about how many points they score for you. It’s also about the points they’re NOT scoring for your opponents. With Ertz starting to cede targets to Goedert, you pretty much have the market cornered on elite TEs. A case could be made for Andrews or Hooper, I guess, but I need to see another year of elite performance out of them before I’m willing to elevate them to that tier.

That said, if you’re intent on moving Kelce, I don’t think Chark and a 1st is a bad return at all. It’s not a slam dunk smash accept, but it’s definitely fair value.

Kelce’s value is high, but will only get lower from here due to age. If you like what you’re getting back and don’t think you’ll get more later, pull the trigger. Personally, I feel Kelce has a few more years of top production, so I’d keep both and play them. As was mentioned, they make fine flex plays more often than not and cover each other on byes.
