How to value Fuller/Picks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

How to value Fuller/Picks

Postby DatDude23 » Wed Mar 25, 2020 10:10 pm

12tm PPR Dynasty SuperFlex -- contender

Trying to get opinions on the upside of Will Fuller. We all know he can ball out, but we also know he's injury prone. As a Fuller owner, you can never act pessimistic, so you have to play your hand as if Fuller will play 16 and be at least a top-20 WR this year w Nuk gone. So, aside from the obvious, what do you guys think of Fuller this season?

Trying to win now, so have been looking for a 1.4 + kind of base for a WR1 type. Julio Jones owner asked about 1.4 + Fuller and part of me wants to take it and run, the other part feel that the draft's WR1 (or maybe Tua/JTaylor, whoever falls/they want) + even a 14 game Fuller could outshine Julio at his age.

So, I think I should probably do the deal, but I wanted to see other's takes on Fuller and the pick first. Know some owners don't get too hyped over picks until after the NFL draft, so I usually wait for them to see who landed where and get fired up on players and then sell.

Thanks for any opinions and here's my current roster.

QB: Drew Brees
RB: Christian McCaffrey
RB: Joe Mixon
WR: Kenny Golladay
WR: AJ Brown
WR: AJ Green
TE: Jared Cook
FLX: Kenyan Drake
OP:Ryan Tannehill

BN: Marlon Mack
BN: Will Fuller
BN: Nyheim Hines
BN: Teddy Bridgewater
BN: Nick Foles
BN: Marcus Mariota

Picks: 1.4 - 2.7 - 3.4

Fuller is worth a late first 4 times a year, and a 4th the rest of the year. LOL. He just can't stay healthy. Personally, I think Julio has a few good years left, so if you want to make that move to win now, it's worth considering. There is no chance Fuller outshines Julio IMO, he's not that old. He had 99 catches for almost 1400 yards last year. However, I'd prefer to be OTC with that pick. Swift/JT or Tua will fall. With your QB's, I'd grab Tua if he fell to 1.04.

I think Jones is the way to go since you are looking to make a run. The 1.04 is a great pick but not a guarantee to hit. You know as a contender what you are getting with Jones and Fuller is not a good asset in my opinion. This is max value for a contender.

In a superflex, I wouldn’t trade the 1.04 alone for Julio, let alone add Fuller.

I'd take Julio for your team since you're making a run, but I'd at least try to counter with Julio + 2nd for 1.04 + Fuller.

I think Julio makes a lot of sense for you in your situation. I'd feel a lot better about dealing Fuller, 2.07 and a 2021 1st for Julio. Not sure that gets it done, but worth a shot if you own a 2021 1st.

Would getting Kelce instead of Julio be better? Not TE premium, but I probably need the upgrade at TE more than WR. Only issue there is I have a lack of WR depth currently and that'd deplete it completely.

I like that deal better than the Julio deal, but in SF, that 1.04 is more like the 1.02 in 1QB. The value is probably right, but it sucks giving up an elite RB prospect, especially if somehow Taylor winds up being available there.

Have you tried shopping Drake for a decent WR? Seems like he should net you a back-end WR1 or high-end WR2. You’re also really solid at QB, and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that you wind up with five starting QBs at some point this season. If that happens, I’d try to sell Foles or Mariota for WR help.

I think you’re right to want to improve at WR and TE, but I wouldn’t force anything. Whoever you take at 1.04 will almost certainly retain that value throughout the 2020 season and likely even gain value. I would just be patient and wait for the best opportunity to address those needs.

I'd absolutely take Kelce over Julio for a win-now team, especially given your lackluster TEs.
