Evans vs. RB

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Evans vs. RB

Postby Hankybro21 » Fri Mar 13, 2020 8:36 am

What tier RB does Evans buy? This would be for Team 1. Looking to shop him since I'm deep at WR but thin at RB. Just don't really know how to value him at the moment.

R: JT, CMC, Barkley, Breece, J. Cook, Kamara

Mixon would be my aim - I'd have a hard time giving up Evans for Chubb with the new coach, Hunt probably returning, and all around uncertainty around Browns. Evans has been a bonafide stud every year in the league and is still young. If not Mixon, Jacobs would do, or would try to trade up for one of the 4 listed as higher value than Evans above.

Love Evans but he was mad inconsistent on a game to game basis this year with the emergence of Godwin. I kinda doubt he's going to buy Mixon straight up in a 10 teamer and you already have Chubb. With the WR depth you have I'd be looking to package up for one of the top tier RBs.
12 Team SF IDP
QB - Mahomes, Lawrence, Mac
RB - Etienne, Walker, Rhamondre, Javonte, Akers, CEH
WR - AJB, Waddle, Higgins, Gabe, Toney
TE - Andrews, ISJ
DL - Quinnen, Highsmith, Josh Allen
LB - Lloyd, JOK, Gay, Bush
DB - Winfield, Love, Delpit

14 Team 1QB IDP
QB - Fields, Jimmy G
RB - Henry, Kamara, Swift, Herbert
WR - Adams, Juju, Jakobi, Theilen
TE - Hock, Everett
DL - Garrett, Buckner, Sweat
LB - White, David, Okereke, Jack
DB - Budda, CJGJ, Dugger, Byard

Chubb, mixon, Jacobs, Henry maybe. Evans is a stud, even with Godwin, even with a new QB.

Awesome thanks everyone.

Would dalvin be attainable with Evans? I love dalvin but not his injuries.

I personally would caution against moving for these "top RBs". Year over year top RBs shuffle significantly and lose value so suddenly. Someone like Evans, who is only 26, has averaged over 1,000 yds a year ever since entering the league, and sure, there was some inconsistency game to game, but that is part of fantasy football. I'd be more willing to move DA, a sexier name for some reason, but having Evans with MT and Nuk (both of which also will have ups and downs), gives you a stud WR core. I'd work on finding other lower price RBs with someone like DA, or even draft picks, as I think his value is very high right now but not at the tier of the other three you have.

A well-rounded team can help mitigate the ups and downs, but I'll take the 1k per year WR vs a flash in the pan RB whose value will be worth a fraction of the value you paid by tomorrow. For example, these RBs have all seen huge spikes in value then decrease in value, which I can see a lot of even in today's RBs: Doug Martin, Jordan Howard, Ajayi, Gurley, Eddie Lacy, Jeremy Hill, Justin Forsett, etc etc. There are the occasional stories of RBs lasting longer, but I'd rather invest in a few young up-and-comers, or picks, and hope to hit the 1-2 year window they are top form, than to chase someone there now. Guys like Aaron Jones did great this year and would have cost you less last year. I'd try to see if MG3 lands somewhere nice, and then you might not even have too much pressure to make a move.
