Lamar Jackson vs AJ Brown

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Lamar Jackson vs AJ Brown

Postby Krissi24 » Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:08 am

12 team 0,5 ppr

For a team in rebuild.

I have AJ Brown, McLaurin, DJ Chark and Hakeem Butler as my best WRs
Absolutely nothing on RB
My TEs are Hooper, Hollister and Cook.

I have been offered Lamar Jackson for AJ Brown.

I also have 6x 2021 1st. Most likely all the top 6 picks. (Our league is really divided in two tiers)

I think that in a 1QB league, giving up AJ Brown for Lamar J is expensive, but come 2021 I do think that it will make my team more competitive.

Lamar Jackson

RB 2021
RB 2021
RB 2021
Bryce Love

McLaurin
DJ Chark
Butler
WR 2021
WR 2021
WR 2021

Hooper.

I know that it is always a gamble with picks and rookies, but I do like the outlook.

I should mention that my QBs are Dak and Geoff, I just really think that Lamar is a difference maker. Is his 2019 performance something that he can repeat and should I make the trade?

I think locking up Jackson even in a 1 QB league is pretty big. I would 100% ask for a young upside piece or a couple picks back giving up Brown however.

qb is the LEAST important thing to fill when rebuilding. last year dudes like ryan tannehill and ryan fitzpatrick were helping out teams that were set elsewhere. its a passing league you will be able to find a good to great option by the time you are ready to compete.

I think relying on 6+ 2021 picks to fill 6 roster spots is wishful thinking. You will be lucky if 2-3 of those 6 pan out. You are likely still a couple years out if you draft well.

I don't really like trading off big assets for QBs in single QB formats. Not to mention you have Dak and Goff, who both could put up QB1 numbers at any time. This is a good starting spot, but I'd be trying to alter the deal. Lamar+ for Dak+AJB maybe...you need something coming back whether it's a pick or a prospect.

I would very easily hold AJB. As mentioned, a serviceable QB will be easy enough to find.

Piling on, AJB for me. You can find serviceable QBs at a much cheaper cost. You gotta hang onto AJB - especially in your rebuild.

QB: Jackson, Darnold
RB: Mixon, Gurley, Guice

Agree with all the above. And if you're not even thinking of being competitive until 2021, there's zero reason to buy-high on Jackson right now. The odds of him repeating his 2019 are fairly low, so the price, if anything, is likely to be lower a year from now.

But I do like the idea of selling-high on AJB, if you can.

I'd Hold AJB here. If those picks really do end up being the top 6 move one of them back for a startable QB and build your team from there. No need to overspend on any QB in that format, let alone the one that is at an all time high in value.
