How important is having a third QB in super flex?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

How important is having a third QB in super flex?

Postby chubnubbin » Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:02 pm

I have Kyler and Watson already. Other QBs are Josh Rosen and Taysom Hill/

I could possibly acquire Lamar Jackson for Boyd, 2020 pick 1.5, and a 2021 first round pick.

I also have the 2020 1.2 pick. Trading for Lamar would allow me to pass on Tua at 1.2.

Trade deal seems fine, but I'm also fine passing on the deal, using the 1.02 for tua, and the 1.05 for a rb or wr

in my 10 teamer, the last 2 years the teams that have won only had 2 QBs of the level youre discussing here. I really think its all based on league size. I would say 12tm is where having a 3rd is great given the value retention and lack of depth of other rosters.

you should make that trade regardless though! i got hosed on here for trading Mahomes for Watson 1.05 and Mike Will. So im confident consensus is that you should snap accept that

100% make the deal for Jackson and take BPA with the 1.02.

Getting the reigning MVP QB in a superflex for that is a no brainer, I would then sell the 1.02 to the desparate for a QB team that is in every league

To your original question...I don't think there is a ton of value having 3 stud qbs in SF or 2QB. Ideally your third qb is consistent and won't lose their job soon.

If you decide to make the trade for Jackson... consider downgrading one of your qbs for someone less valuable who also scores in order to upgrade your other positions. Someone like Matt Ryan
Too many teams and lineup changes to keep track of them all.

Not bad advice here, the last thing you want is a ton of capital stuck on your bench as weekly QB3.

In my 10tm league 3 QB aren't super important. In my 12tm league it's much more of an advantage. Last year 3 or 4 teams were knocked out of playoff hopes because they lost one or two starting QBs. No1 trades QBs off in the 12tm unless it's a big premium.

To answer the question, 3+ starting QBs is important. I like the value here and also agree with the previous posters that it could be a good move to downgrade one of the studs to a lesser guy and add some more pieces to your team

Seems super cheap for Lamar. Easy deal for me and 3rd QBs are VERY valuable, especially good ones I don’t feel comfortable without a third good qb on any SF team.

As others have discussed league size is very important, how many teams are there? 12+ easily accept that and shop your other QBs to see what you can get, preferably another qb++.

Just for value alone I’d take that. Keep 3 top young qbs or move one to fill holes, but I’d take that

I agree with what most have said. Take that deal for Jackson. Having three of the arguably too six QBs is a very nice advantage. I would trade one but you don't have to rush to do that and when you do get a lower end QB in return.

In Superflex, especially 12+ teams it never hurts to have too many QBs. They make for great trade bait down the road. Pick up the backup as soon as a QB gets hurt.

Use your 1.02 for BPA.
Team 1:
PPR--QB, RBx2, WRx3, TE, Superflex, Flex x2
QBs: Lawrence, Stafford, Geno, Hooker, Rush
RBs: Ekeler, Kamara, Achane, Elijah Mitchell, Dillon, Kelley, Moss, Jamaal Williams
WRs: Adams, Hopkins, Waddle, Kirk, JSN, Boyd, OBJ, Hyatt
TEs: Kelce, Hockenson, Taysom, Irv Smith

and then a few minor players and rookie stashed on taxi

if you can get lamar for that snatch it up... worry about everything else later.... then you could move a qb like lamar for a mint.
