Mia backfield

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Mia backfield

Postby AresGodOWar » Wed Mar 04, 2020 12:03 am

Anyone have a prediction on what their backfield looks like for 2020..

Right now it's
Kalen Ballage , Patrick Laird , Myles Gaskin

Being a rebuilding team do they draft a RB high or go after a FA , I don't know if they will spend on a FA in a rebuild ?

Everyone seems to think they’re gonna use that last 1st round pick on one. I also remember hearing they have an ish ton of cap space so if they don’t want to draft one high they have plenty of money to sign a free agent. Ain’t no way they stick with what they’ve got
Qb: Mahomes
Rb: Jacobs Ceh, Damien williams, Vaughn, rojo, fournette, Singletary, akers, snell, devontae booker, boston Scott

Te: hock, fant
Cb: Kyle fuller, Carlton Davis
S: Jamal Adams, Justin poyer
Edr: nick bosa, Joey bosa, Josh Allen, Jpp, emmanuel agbah
IL: Chris Jones, Jonathan Allen
Lb: Darius Leonard, Roquan Smith, greenlaw

1QB
10 team league
32 man roster

I would imagine they draft an RB. The benefit of a potential stud RB for 4 years on a team friendly rookie contract would far outweigh what they could get at that same price range in FA.

They keep getting mocked swift at 26. I hope we don’t do that but yeah we’re all but locked into bringing in a guy and probably in the draft

Piling on, I think they draft a RB and/or bring in FA help. I don't think any of the players on the current roster have a shot at leading the group next year. Gaskin might be the best prospect currently on the roster.

Wouldn't spend a dime on any of those guys right now. If for some reason Miami doesn't bring in a free agent or spend high/mid round draft capital on a RB then re-evaluate closer to the season.

I'd pretty much bank on Swift to the Dolphins at pick 26. Every mock had Jacobs to the Raiders last year just cause of the obvious fit - think we'll see that again with Swift in Miami. I'm actually excited for that though. Lots of opportunities - very little competition.

If somehow this backfield looks eerily similar, then I like Laird next year.

the dolphins are a shitshow, lots of draft capital, but even more cap space, they can get a decent RB in free agency without spending too much and without spunking 1st round picks.

but it's the same franchise who kept gase for three seasons so they could draft swift AND taylor with their top two picks and i wouldn't bat an eyelid.

They’ll draft or sign most likely. Gaskin is the only guy if the 3 I’d consider rostering.

Imo smart thing be to spend that draft capital on a more premier position and sign a free agent guy with there cash. Build through the draft and then later use a high pick on a stud rb when your closer to competing. Sign a few agent like melvin gordon for 3 years and then he can play the AP roll later to an incoming rookie

I have no idea what direction they will pursue, be it draft or FA, or a combo of the two. The only thing I’d feel safe assuming is that the starter is not currently on the roster.

I've honestly been impressed with the new regime and Flores as a coach. They seem like a forward thinking "money-ball" type front office that is building for the long-haul.

That makes me skeptical that they will pay a big name free agent or use a 1st round pick on a running back. Rationally they have much larger needs. I'm forecasting them using a 2nd or 3rd round pick on like Akers or CEH, not a late first on one of the big couple ones.

I also don't think their RB is on their current roster. That 5th year option may persuade them to take an RB at the end of the 1st.

With all the needs they have I just don't see how they can justify drafting a RB in the 1st round. Makes zero sense to me. I feel like KC is the only team that has any business drafting a RB in the 1st but that's just my humble opinion. Lol
