Ertz for 1.06

Ertz for 1.06

Postby Ktmjelde » Thu Feb 27, 2020 6:30 am

I am a competing team and have been in the Championship the last 3 years. Wondering if it is time to get some value back from Ertz. The team that currently holds 1.06 is in desperate need of a TE. On the surface it seems like Ertz is the value here.. but looking at all trade calcs the value shows the 1.06.

Thinking of offering him Ertz for his 1.06.

I would then roll with Waller/OJ/Thomas as my TEs....thoughts?

What is it with people and trade calculators? I just don't get it. They are awful.

If you are a competing team, I easily hold Ertz here. I wouldn't sell him for just a mid first either. I think he's worth more. He's still a top 3 TE for me.

I think the window to get a mid first back for Ertz will probably be closed this time next year. It's tough to sell Ertz when you're trying to compete now, but I think between the collection of TEs you have you should be able to get by in a 1TE IDP league.

I would trade Ertz for 1.06. I think by this time next year Ertz will lose a lot of value with age and the emergence of Goedert, so this might be a good time to sell high. I believe Waller and OJ keep you at reasonable TE depth.

Agree with the above on trade calcs, terrible things. At any rate, with your TE depth I would feel fine about moving Ertz for 1.06. I have found it advantageous to get what I could out of an asset in terms of being on my roster, but also be willing to move that asset for a decent return before value diminishes much. Are you leaving a bit of production on the table this year, maybe, but if the move meets a greater need or enhances long term viability I say it's worth making.

Teams that are in contention for the title should not be trading an elite starter for a draft pick. Ertz has averaged 92/967/7 over the last 3 years, at the TE position. Easy hold for me

I would hold Ertz if contending and take the 1.06 easily if not. I think RB is your biggest need.

I get that a lot of trade calculators can be wonky when you’re adding up a bunch of middling pieces to “equal” a single stud. But this is a one-for-one deal. What’s the harm in plugging that into a trade calculator? All it does is spit out whichever piece the person who input the values prefers. That actually seems like the best possible use of a trade calculator, assuming you trust the valuations of its creator. Either you think the 1.06 is with more than Ertz or you don’t. Why does it matter if that’s expressed in the form of a message board post or a trade calculator result?

All that said, I agree with most everyone above. I’d hold Ertz on a strong contender, but in a vacuum, the 1.06 is probably worth a touch more.

Yep take the RB at 1.03 and if you want to trade Ertz for 1.06 worst case you get Higgins, Reagor or Ruggs. Who knows you might be able to snag Dobbins at 6 to give a solid boost to your RB stable. You have multiple options with the 1.06. To me it all hinges on how you feel about Waller’s future.

I love Ertz, but his value has been declining. I agree with everyone who posted to roll with the stud if competing, but I also agree this may be your last chance to get that kind of capital for him. OP has the TE depth to recover a majority of the points Ertz puts up. You could use 1.03 for Taylor if you believe, but still add a good young player at 1.06 or use it to trade. Only one of Ertz or the 1.06 will grow in value over the short term, and it would be a move movable asset.
