Hooper or Jarvis Landry +

Postby megager » Tue Feb 25, 2020 9:27 am

A very interesting offer in my inbox. Team 2 in signiture.

It's a 12 team but deep starting requirements. PPR.

Is the downgrade at tight end worth it to acquire Landry?
Is off season surgery a concern?

Is Hooper a stud that should be kept.

I really liked Irv and I think he could establish a role as thielen gets older and Rudolph moves on.

I'm.leaning on accepting the offer and hoping Landry gets back

Really solid value overall. Hopefully Smith Jr. makes the jump this year. Hooper is a bit up in the air until landing spot is determined.

Yes I do think the value is on the Landry side particularly in PPR

I disagree with the above posts. Value-wise, it's a little light to me, and losing Hooper would be a big hit to your ability to contend next year with no real starter at TE. I'd want a better TE starter on top of Landry or an early/mid 2nd on top of Landry + Smith.

I like Irv, but he doesn't carry a lot of value right now and I'd much rather have Hooper than Landry. This is easily the Hooper side for me.

Thank you very much.
My initial thoughts were easy accept but you've all made great points.
In a way I think I'm chasing Landry's past production but this surgery nos a big worry.

I do like Irv but Hooper did look great and hopefully he goes to a tight end happy spot

Hooper won't be back with Atlanta and could price himself out of a decent team acquiring him. He was on a pass heavy, pass first team, with 2 stud WRs taking pressure away and a stud QB throwing him the ball, and he still couldn't stay healthy. He won't have it that good again this year. Landry is perennially underrated, he's never finished outside the top 20WRs.

The DLF trade analyzer has this as 387.4 on the Landry side to 208 on the Hooper side. With a suggested difference of the Hooper side adding the 1.11 or 1.12 or one of the following players: Hunter Henry, Mark Ingram, Brandin Cooks, AJ Green, TY Hilton or Philip Lindsey.

Value is massively on the Landry side. The only thing that would make me hesitant is the lack of a TE you'd have, but the position is fairly replaceable after the top 3-4 options.

This is a trade that can be easily overthought. But it's not everyday you get such a massive overpay value wise offered up for nothing.
Team 1
2019 Champions
12 Team - 0.5 PPR
Start: 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex(WRT). Bench 11, IR 2.

WR: Michael Thomas, Mike Evans, Tyreek Hill, DK Metcalf, Julian Edelman, Breshad Perriman, Bryan Edwards.
TE: Evan Engram, Dallas Goedert, Adam Trautman.

Picks:
2021: 1st, 3rd.
2022: 1st, 3rd.
2023: 1st ,2nd, 3rd.

Team 2
10 Team - PPR, 4pts Pass TD, 6pts Rec/Rush TD, Return scoring yards/TDs.

I've hovered over the accept button all day.
Could Hooper do better somewhere else?

Good question. Time will tell and we will see where he ends up. He was in a solid passing offense with a good QB, so at least we know what he can do given the opportunity.

Hooper is not a game changer. He's a nice option while in Atlanta but he's definitely not a guy that is irreplaceable. Take Landry and then find a way to grab a starting TE for less. Ian Thomas, Herndon or Griffin, H Hurst if he's traded. .. I'm sure there are plenty of other options to consider.

do not eff this up because you think austin hooper is gonna be a dynamic TE for years to come... hes so ordinary its absurd. no clue how he got that boosted for one season in ATL but do not pass on this deal. 787 and 6 td isnt even some remarkable season to get you dreaming about kelce or gronk levels of production. do not get hung up on this, its a smash accept
