Ian Thomas Value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

As an owner I would need a second to consider it, probably would want a mid second in this draft class. He was considered a “raw” prospect who has done well when given a starting role, and we all know TE’s take time to develop. So when you factor in that he was “raw” and still produced at that position that has a longer learning curve, I think he has real potential to enter the TE1 conversation for the next few years.

I'm a Ian believer , I can't fully trust him but I think he can be a top 7-10 TE now with Olsen gone..

In a non TE bonus league I would pay a mid - late 2nd for him depending on how bad I needed a TE , I would want a early - mid 2nd if I was selling.

As a Thomas owner, I don't think he's anything special. The Panthers have a bad QB situation, DJ Moore and CMC clearly ahead of him, and a guy like Samuel begging for more touches. Thomas did little when Olsen was out last year. He's still a poor blocker. I'd cash out on the hype, personally. The hype is more to do with Olsen leaving than anything he did last year. I cashed out in a TE premium SF league moving Thomas and 1.10 for 1.07. I just don't think he's a difference maker. I'd try for any 2nd I could, or moving from the 3rd to the 2nd type thing. Dime a dozen type TE production, IMO. I could be wrong. I still hold him in my team in sig., but I just don't see a really good football player. His production can be easily duplicated.

I'd take any 2nd in a standard, non TE premium league, in this class. I wouldn't consider it, as the previous owners said. I'd take it. This class is deep. In a 12 team league, give me any 2nd over Ian Thomas. Like I already said, he's nothing special, IMO.

I know last year he wasn't any good really with some bleep QBs , But his rookie year from week 13-17 with Olsen out them 5 weeks he was the #5 TE.. Don't get me wrong I don't think he will be a top 5 TE but going into year 3 as the starter I think he can be a top 7-10 TE if Cam comes back since he loves his TEs , Or any decent QB tbh.

Eh, I don’t see the point in trading him for a late 2nd. You’re getting into deep dart throw territory by that point. The top 18-20 WR/RBs will be off the board, as well as the top 2-3 QBs, so you’re looking at a flyer RB/WR, or the third- or fourth-best rookie TE. I just doubt there 20+ rookies in this class with his combination of athleticism and opportunity.

His upside obviously depends a lot on what the new offense looks like in Carolina and who is throwing him passes. At the very least, he would seem to be the prime candidate to get a lot of the Panthers’ red zone targets. Moore, McCaffrey and Samuel aren’t exactly giants.

I’d sell for the 2.04 or better in the league I own him in, but I’m also really deep at TE. Anything past that and I’d probably at least want to wait until the pick is on the clock.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬

WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert

Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

I would hold for anything outside of an early 2nd if the pick was OTC and I liked the options available. Now that Thomas is going to start, I would rather hold and see what he is.

Not sure that's a given, TBH. He's still not a good blocker. Like I said, I roster the guy, but a 2nd in this class I'll take all day over a TE that isn't a special player. 4th option in that passing game, I'd take the 2nd, personally. Wish my league mates would give me a 2nd for him.
