Offseason strategy advice

Postby PigeonBoys » Sat Feb 15, 2020 6:53 pm

Going into this offseason I feel like I’ve got an opportunity to make a good run at a repeat title, looking at signature what would y’all do to improve?

I traded Wentz for 1.6 thinking I’d beef up my RB depth this draft. Other scenario I’ve been toying with is trading picks for known talent like Mack, Montgomery, sanders, etc.

I’ve also been thinking I would take a stab at an elite TE as that is another weakness. Nkoju is probably my best TE asset at this point (maybe Higbee) but being so young would it be too soon to quit on him?

Those are the moves I’ve got in mind but I’m notorious for being too conservative in making moves so I appreciate other points of view.

First off you did really well scoring the 1.06 for Wentz (smh). As for where you need strengthening it's obviously at RB. Your WR are strong and your TE are good enough this year. J.Cook came on half way through the season and will be going into his second year at NO so I expect he will pick up where he left off. If Higbee secures the TE1 job in LAR then he'll be a viable asset as well, although I wouldn't expect the Rams to run their offense through him like they did at the end of the season this past year. Njoku is supposedly being shopped or at least there is chatter about the Browns trading him. So he could end up somewhere with a much more favorable situation. So, again I think you're fine sitting tight at TE.

I would just focus on acquiring at least on more starting RB, especially since you have to start at least 2 each week. Since you now hold both 1.06 and 1.12, perhaps you can buy a Mixon or someone comparable from a draft pick hungry team that has a stud RB. That would be my strategy over drafting one, since you're looking to repeat.

Nice Wentz trade! I would focus on RB and solidifying that position. If you can do that, I think you are in pretty good shape. Njoku, Higbee and Cook should be good enough options at TE. Your wr's are fantastic.

Thanks guys, sounds like we’re on the same page on RB depth being a high priority. I’ve my RBs cuffed but that 3rd RB starter would make a huge difference next year. I know the draft will change things but where do y’all sit on keeping the picks vs trading for a mid tier RB?

Knowing the Sanders owner I’d have to do 1.6, 1.12 + a player. His other RB is Singletary and then his RBs drop off a cliff so i know he’s in no position to give up his RB1 without a bit of an overpay.
