TE Premium - general tips

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

TE Premium - general tips

Postby Nflnz » Sat Feb 15, 2020 2:45 pm

Hi Folks,

I have recently joined a TE Premium league where TEs get a bonus 2 pts for each reception. There ar 2 dedicated TE spots + 3 flex spots which can be a TE so you could start 5 TEs

If anyone has played in these leagues does it become an absolute game changer to have stud TEs and how do you value TEs in trades?

For example a trade being discussed is:

Give: David Montgomery
Get: Mike Gesicki & Darrel Henderson

Any hep would be great. I can’t find a lot of discussion on this forum around TE premium leagues

WR: London, Addison, Tank, M Wilson, Mingo, Tillman, Perry, Heath

The OP says "get a bonus 2 pts for each reception". I would read that as meaning 1 pt for the reception + 2 bonus pts = 3 pts.

I understand that, but I think it might just be the way he said it. Never seen a 3 PPR TE premium. I suppose it's possible, but I think he meant 2.

A comma would totally change the meaning. They "get a bonus, 2 pts for each reception." I think that's what he meant, but he'd have to confirm.

To clarify, in the league it is 1 point for a reception. TEs get a reception bonus of 2 points, so it becomes 3 points in total.

Great, I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying. That is huge. I'd definitely like that Gesecki deal, in that case. Good lord. That's a massive boost to TE value.

Even if it was only 2 pts I would be making that deal for Gesicki. Full disclosure I was an early adopter on Gesicki.

Gesicki still not sold on. He'll be a hot name this offseason though.

3pt PPR TE though? Outrageous - gotta get him in that trade. Def a league where I'd carry 4-5 TEs.
35 Team Dyn PPR, 3 x Copy SF start 2TE Super Prem (TE 2 PPR, 8pt TD), 6 pt/non-TE TD, 1pt/20 yds pass (300 +3pt), 1pt/10 yds rush/rec (100 +3pt)

Start 12: 1QB 1SFLX 2RB 4WR 2TE 2FLX | 30 Active Roster, unlim Taxi, 3 IR/Out (+) | est. '21 | playoffs '21, '22

QB - J Allen, T Lawrence ...
RB - A Ekeler, S Barkley, J Cook, I Pacheco ...
WR - AJ Brown, C Ridley, G Pickens, C Sutton ...
TE - D Njoku, D Knox ...

Generally in start 2TE leagues, tight ends are gold. In 2TE leagues with that big of a difference in scoring for TE, they are platinum. I'd take the deal in the example and not look back.
Team 1:
12 team SF PPR/2PPR TE Prem, .2 ppc
Q-SF-R-W-F-F-F-F-T-T
QB: Wilson, Cousins, Fitz, Flacco, Lock
RB: Jacobs, CEH, DJ, Dillon, Michel, Royce, Lewis, Bruce Anderson, Gus, Warren
WR: MT, Amari, Kupp, Pittman, Miller, Agholor, John Brown, Enunwa, Foster, Wilson, Preston Williams, AB
TE: Kelce, Kittle, Tonyan, Davis, Dissly, Knox, T.Moss

Team 2:
Q-SF-R-R-W-W-F-F-T-T-D-K-IDP-IDP PPR
QB: Mahomes, TLaw, Darnold, Bridgewater
RB: Zeke, Swift, Singletary, Dillon, Mack, Penny, LMurray
WR: MT, DJ Moore, Sutton, Slayton, Tyler Boyd, Mims, Edwards, Van Jefferson, Miller
TE: Gesicki, Hooper, Knox
Def: Chi
K: Elliot
IDP: Bosa, LVE, Flowers

Between the scarcity due to tbe 2TE and the massive premium TEs get in this league, Kittle is in the conversation for a top 5 overall asset in this league. TE value is off the charts with this setup unless all the other positions get some kind of huge bonus to balance things out a bit.

I'd personally already consider him a top 5 asset in a league with that scoring. Not top 3 because I can't honestly see anyone taking him over CMC/Barkley/MT, but I could see an argument for him over Zeke/Hopkins/Dalvin.

I’d easily have him top three in that format. Kittle had 85 catches last year. That’s an extra 170 points. He actually outscored Thomas, if my math is right.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell

WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert
TE: Hockenson, Chig, Trautman
Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

Sheesh. Didn't really do the math myself on it, but that's a very fair argument. Looking at it from that perspective, top 3 seems right.
