Escaping Lifetime Rebuild

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Escaping Lifetime Rebuild

Postby Bay City Original » Sat Feb 01, 2020 11:05 am

This team snuck into the playoffs two seasons ago with mediocre players and I decided to blow it up and start rebuilding this past season. Something I struggle with is not being in an ongoing rebuild process (constantly trading to get younger and younger) and turning that corner to being competitive. My expectations for this season is to continue building, improving on my 9th place finish, and in next season (year 3 of rebuild) to be a legit playoff contender for several seasons.

12 Team, Standard Scoring, 6 pts/TD (pass/rush/receive), 0.5 PPR
QB: Josh Allen, Darnold
2-3 RB: MSanders, Guice, Hunt, Jamal Williams, MBrown, Love
3-4 WR: AJBrown, DJMoore, Boyd, JWashington, Bourne, ATate, Hamilton, Harmon, ZJones
1-2 TE: Gesicki, Jonnu Smith, Knox, Gronk
2020 1.03, 1.04, 1.10, 2.01, 2.03, 2.05

With this young team I know not all players are foundational and some may carry some value that I can cash in on. My wondering is:

What players and/or picks might I shop around and what should I hope to get in return?

Any other advice for this rebuilding team is appreciated. Thank you!
Team 1 -12 Team, 0.5 PPR, QRRWWWTF 2022 Champ
QB: Allen, Purdy, Love
RB: Mixon, AJones, Swift, Dillon, Dobbins
WR: Jefferson, AJB, DJM, NCollins, Sutton, NCollins, Mingo
TE: Hockenson
1.10

Team 2 -12 Team, 0.5 PPR, QRRWWWTF - 2023 Champ
QB: Murray, Love
RB: Hall, Gibbs, Walker, Dobbins, KMitchell, EMitchell
WR: DSmith, Addison, Kupp DJM, Dionte, Chark
TE: Engram, Mayer, Waller
1.02, 1.09, 2.09, 2.12

Team 3-12 Team, SF, 0.5 PPR, QRRWWWTFS - 2023 Champ
QB: Purdy, Dak Stafford
RB: Taylor, Henry, Conner Najee, Warren, ZMoss EMitchell
WR: Samuel, DJM, Sutton Bateman, Pierce, Chark
TE: Kittle

I would shop: Guice, Hunt, J. Washington, Tate, Hamilton and Jonnu for the right price. Washington believers might pay up this off season.

Best bet is to hit with the 1.3/1.4. You're WR definitely look like they will follow your plan. DJ Moore and AJ Brown will only improve. I would look to try to get 2 out of 4 of the 3 RBs + Jeudy. One possibility is you get 2 really good RBs at 1.3/1.4, then draft a WR at 1.10.
Dynasty Team 1:

10 Man, Full PPR, .2 PPC, Double Flex

QB: Kyler Murray
RB: Saquon Barkley , Breece Hall, Swift, Dobbins, Gibson, CEH
WR: Devante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Jamarr Chase, DK Metcalf, Devonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy
TE: Travis Kelce

2023 Picks: 1.4, 1.8, 2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 3.8

Dynasty Team 2:

10 Man, Half PPR, Double Flex

QB: Tua
RB: Barkley , Mixon, Javonte, Jacobs, CEH
WR: AJB, Tyreek, Lamb, Aiyuk, Bateman
TE: Kittle

2022 Picks: 1.5, 1.6, 2.3
2023 Picks: 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd

Boyd is easily the one to shop that will bring back the largest potential return, AJ and DJ are your cornerstones at WR and you have young prospects and picks to add to the depth. Hunt is probably tough to trade at the moment and you're probably best holding to see if he recovers value, but worth exploring your leagues interest.

Everyone else are players to keep and build around or see if they build their value.

Also Gronk is just a waste of a roster slot at this point, cut him.

Team looks in good shape to turn the corner soon I’d say. I wouldn’t be actively shopping anyone.

Hunt and Boyd could be really good in season sells though.
main league, half PPR, all TDs 6, -3 for INT
12 team. 2019 champ, 2020 runner up, ‘21 3rd
start 2SF, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2WRT

QB: T Lawrence, K Cousins, R Wilson, Z Wilson
RB: K Walker, T Ettiene, JK Dobbins, D Gore, J Hasty, D Johnson, L Rountree
WR: JJ, AJB, A Cooper, Juju, C Kirk, J Dotson, N Westbrook-Ikhine, I McKenzie
TE. T Kelce, Pitts, Albert O, D Parham, J O’Shaunessy

1.03, 1.11, 2.02, 2.09

I agree with this. With those picks you can add several stud players and should be competing this year or at least next depending on rookie development

I was thinking some of these guys too. What would you recommend that I look to get back in return?

Stop. Trading.

The reason you struggle to transition from a rebuild to being competitive is because you are trading too much. Keep building your team through the draft and stop trading everyone away.

LOL... agree (somewhat)... but trying to get opinions on who to trade away because, just like the stock market, you should sell high before value drops.

You don’t currently have any sell high players. They are either young guys or guys with little to no value, like Hunt and Gronk.

your team is young and good but eventually you will need someone that is a top producer at their position to win a chip. I'd be crossing my fingers this draft class tests well and receives great draft capital.. but if someone wanted to pay up for allen, darnold, AJB, or your picks I'm fine with that too. gl
