Upswing rebuild win now?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Upswing rebuild win now?

Postby kandyman » Tue Jan 28, 2020 9:15 am

Team 1 in the sig. Format is 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 2 OFlex 2 LB 2 DL 2 DB 1 DFlex. The rebuild is starting to swing upwards. With picks 1.03 through 1.06 I have a good chance of getting some great pieces for the future or try to win now. Am I delusional to try and win now or should I remain patient? I have some pieces that can be dealt off for some studs. Tight End is my biggest concern. If I cant get the tight end position corrected I'm not sure if I should be competing for win now. Any thoughts?

Depends on how many teams are in the league, but I'm guessing this isn't a 16 team league or you would have mentioned that.

Definitely remain patient. No way that team competes for a championship this year. You have a lot of good young pieces, and I would just continue to build around those pieces. Having four first round picks should help a great deal, and your team is in good shape in the future.

Echoing the above thoughts. Stay patient and keep building around some great young pieces. The picks should be big this year and really help you long term. Keep building!

Stay the course. Your team is super young, and you could do a lot worse than building around a core of Cook / Sanders / Sutton / Deebo / Ridley / Boyd / 1.03 / 1.04 / 1.05 / 1.06.

If things break right in 2020 (Sutton / Ridley / Deebo continue to break-out, and you hit on some productive RB's with those picks), you could certainly compete for a championship. But I wouldn't be cashing in your youth & picks for 1 or 2 final missing pieces just yet.

You don’t have established WRs, although you do have promising young ones. Cook is the only solid RB, with Sanders showing he has potential. In a 10 or 12 team league, you still have a little ways to go. Let your young pieces develop a little more to truly see what you have, and use your picks to gather more young talent. Don’t be afraid to take trade offers for a couple of those 1sts after you select the players you like, but be sure the trade nets you more young talent.

You should have fun with this draft. Enjoy the building.

Thank you for the feedback. It can get easy to get blinded by the promise of young players. Everyone's comments helped reassure me to not go overboard thinking I could turn this around too quick.

I would accually consider trading Cook away.
He is in his contract year. Either he gets hurt again. Then we are talking 3/4 Season. Or he balls out again, but how much can his value rise.

If you can get a really good offer for him.
Because I think his value Will be low, when you can compete. Then what not sell him now when you know his value is high.
