What moves should I make? Won this year and offered Royce

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What moves should I make? Won this year and offered Royce

Postby JAC5505 » Fri Jan 24, 2020 11:00 am

Hi everyone! Y'all in this forum have been a huge resource for me as I learn dynasty (just had my first season...and actually won the championship!) so thank you! I'm still trying to learn how to value depth and future draft picks. A guy offered me Royce Freeman for my 2020 2.10 and my 2021 2nd rounder. Based on my roster (below), I'm not too confident I have a roster to repeat. My QBs are weak, my WRs could be strong, and my RBs are a hodgepodge.

I was wondering if anyone could take a look and give me advice on what I should focus on, not just with this situation, but in general? His team is below and he has 1.03 and 2.03 in the upcoming draft. He traded away Haskins, Rudolph, Ballage, Watkins and 2020 4.03 & 5.03 for Dak. He said even guys like Adams and Andrews aren't off-limits.

QBs: Darnold, Dak, Goff, Foles
RBs: Mixon, J. Jacobs, M. Sanders, Scott, C. Thompson, Burkhead, G. Edwards, Gore, McKinnon, Miller
WRs: Adams, R. Anderson, M. Brown, Cooks, Dorsett, Isabella, M. Jones, Renfrow, J. Watson, Callaway, G. Jennings, St. Brown
TE: Kittle, Andrews, Everett, Knox, Sternberger

Thank you!

Edit: read your roster wrong. I'd still hold off on Royce though.

Congrats on winning the title in your 1st dynasty season! I would hold off on the Freeman trade. The price is not bad, I'm just not sure it's going to happen for Freeman. I would rather gamble on a couple 2nds. I would look to move Hilton before his value crashes and try to cash out on the Mostert hype before the NFL draft. I think your RBs are passable week to week especially if Conner stays healthy but this position is your weakest link. Your team is in decent shape overall and hopefully you hit on your picks. Make some smart moves as they come but I would not force anything.

You are solid at TE and WR. I don't think you need to do much of anything there. I'd focus on QB and RB.

I'm not that high on Conner, but I actually like Mostert, and I think Drake looked solid to finish out the year, but in a ten team league I'd like to see an elite RB, at least one of the top ten guys. You have some WR depth. I'd look to package up one of your WR's, maybe one of your RB's like Conner, and maybe even your 1.10, and go after one of the top RB's.

Or you could look to flip one of your WR's for a lesser RB, or for an early 2020 1st, where you could take a top rookie RB.

Obviously I'd like to see better QB's too. But I don't know that you have the depth or picks to make a run at anyone. So I'd just hope that your QB's continue to perform like they did last year.

No need to make that move for Freeman.

Freeman >= 2.10. I would not pay two 2nds for him.

In general, it seems like your trade partner is weak at WR. I'd try to pawn Hilton off on him to get younger. Since he owns Freeman and seems high on DEN's run game, maybe flip this trade around and offer him Hilton + Lindsay for 1.03? If he values Freeman at two 2nds, then in theory he should value Lindsay at least as a late 1st.

Its likely not popular, but id look to sell all your rbs. Maybe for picks, maybe in packages to upgrade. Dont see any of them having long term value. Bestball, id take my chances that i could replace as the season went along and/or over time.

Thank y'all! I really appreciate the comments and thoughtful advice. I don't know Mostert's long-term value, or even Coleman's, but the SF backfield might be stronger than DEN.

I went with the Lindsay + Hilton for 2020 1.03 suggestion. Hopefully he accepts...
