Move back in 1st for Diontae(+) ?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Move back in 1st for Diontae(+) ?

Postby Prison_Mike » Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:19 am

Team 2 in Signature (12tm | PPR | 1QB)

I own the 1.04 & 1.06 in this year's draft

Our last place finisher sent me the following trade offer yesterday which I immediately declined:
I Give: 1.04
I Get: 1.08 + 2.11

I was planning to use the 1.04 to draft a RB since that's my biggest need outside of QB (unless CeeDee is available)
But there are a few players on his team I'm interested in

Thoughts on this counter? (DLF trade calc has it dead even FWIW)

Give: 1.04 + Slayton + 3.11
Get: 1.08 + 2.11 + Diontae + Haskins
Team 1:
12-team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Herbert, Kyler, Baker, Jimmy G
RB: Taylor, Saquon, Javonte, Conner, Lloyd, R.Davis, Vidal, Tracy
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Olave, Diggs, Diontae, Hollywood, MT, Shaheed
TE: Engram, Bowers, Woods

Team 2:
12-Team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Mahomes, Allen, Russ
RB: Breece, JT, Swift, Javonte, Mostert, Zamir, Irving
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Nico, Kupp, Kirk, Hollywood, MT
TE: Pitts, Njoku, Woods

Team 3:
12-Team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Hurts, Dak, Stafford, Z.Wilson, DTR
RB: Saquon, Swift, Achane, Kamara, Ford
WR: Jefferson, AJB, ARSB, Nico, Diontae, OBJ
TE: Goedert, Njoku, Fant, Woods
'24 picks: 4.08, 4.12, 5.12

Slayton more or less = Diontae, and Haskins >= 3.11 in 1QB.

Seems like you're giving away the 1.04 for 1.08 + 2.11. Easy pass for me unless you take Slayton out of the deal. Even then, I'd probably just hold onto the 1.04 unless you get a really strong offer.

Fair enough

Maybe I'm overvaluing Diontae (especially as a PIT fan lol)
I'm trying to buy him & sell Slayton but you're probably right about them being mostly a wash from a value standpoint

I probably prefer Diontae to Slayton long term, but agree that they're probably a wash in value right now. I'd hesitate even 1.04 for 1.08 for Diontae but it depends who you're targeting - 1.04 for 1.08 diontae and 2.11 is probably worth it for me.

Yeah, I don't see the point in adding Slayton to your side because he basically cancels out Johnson. The rest of the deal doesn't add a whole lot from the original offer.

That was my initial thought but wasn't sure if I was getting greedy
(but even at that, I'd still be hesitant because that likely takes me out of the running for Lamb, Dobbins, maybe even Akers)

I like knowing that I'll have one of the Tier 1 (or at least fringe Tier 1) guys locked up with the 1.04

Why? It's not being greedy to try to get as much value as possible from an early 1st. Its value will only continue to increase as we approach rookie draft season, so 1.08 + 2.11 is nowhere near enough for me to sell 1.04. Would you sell TSLA today for $550 even if it's a profit if you knew for certain that it would be worth $600 in May?

1.06 may be the edge of tier 1 after combine and draft, then you may be able to do 1.06 and 3.11 for 1.08 and diontae, or something like that. or keep 1.06 and sell 1.04 for even more.
i'd sit on those picks unless i get a really good offer, i'm not even sure i'd take 1.08, 2.11 and diontae at the moment.

Pretty much this. Johnson is intriguing long term, but I dont like going this route.
