Two options for Dalvin: Mixon+1.05, or 1.01+1.07

Postby Mr. Wizard » Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:17 pm

Thinking of moving Dalvin. Got a couple options on the table right now that are still in flux but we’re all mulling over.

One would swap Dalvin for Mixon + 1.05. I think this has a high ceiling, but I don’t want to be too presumptuous that the Bengals will be competent and that 1.05 will be a high-likelihood hit. He’s the Mattison owner, which heightens his interest in Cook.

The other is a package of picks that currently stands at 1.01 + 1.07. He also has 1.08, 2.01, Hardman, and Singletary. I value those players around a late 1, early 2, so I’m hoping I could get him to add either an extra pick or a player, but not sure if he will.

Alternatively, I could just be being too cute and should just keep Dalvin, probably the strongest player we’re talking about here. With Nuk, DJM, Sanders, and Hunt (new landing spot? Please?) in place, maybe I should stop shopping my best player.

What say you?

EDIT: Regarding league format stuff — superflex is one year off and as such there are still some good QBs in free agency, so I could choose Burrow or Swift and sign a solid vet QB to pair with Mahomes. I’ll be able to extend Mahomes this offseason so no worries about that. Otherwise, contracts and money aren’t a big factor in the players in question.

I'm really high on Mixon so I'd take Mixon+1.05 all day. I'm also trying to move Cook to the Mixon owner. I'm learning the community is sky high on Cook so seems like a good time to move him.

I would sell my Cook for Mixon+1.05 (hypothetically, since I already have Mixon as well) and also probably for 1.01+1.07. I'd prefer the Mixon trade but like them both.

Take the picks, and with the 1.01 and take Burrow. Get ahead, you won't regret it. Lock that need up now, the price will only go up. You only have the 2.02 right now, and Mahomes on a 1 year deal? Easy call for me. I am thinking people didn't see the SF part of this, or there wouldn't be as many voting for Mixon. You should have made that clear in your OP. You need another QB, and you can probably grab Burrow and grab either Taylor, Etienne, Dobbins or Swift at 1.07 to replace Cook. At worst Jeudy or Lamb will be there if all 4 go before 1.07.

To be fair, superflex is another year off and I’m gonna be able to extend Mahomes, but I should’ve specified that, yeah. I would probably do Swift as there are solid QBs in free agency at this point still. Probably the last year that will be the case, though, as this offseason they’ll get snapped up in advance of superflex. I’d either draft Burrow or sign a vet to pair with Mahomes though, yes.

Oh. Then maybe get a QB before their salaries are adjusted, if they are. I would certainly want my 2nd QB spot filled in before next year. In that case the Mixon side is appealing.

100% getting a second QB to pair with Mahomes in advance, yeah, whether that be Burrow or a vet. Their market price will skyrocket for sure.

Miiiight be able to get 1.01 guy to do 1.01 + 1.08 + Hardman instead. That’d be intriguing.

Still like the Mixon deal too but he hasn’t responded in a little bit.

Depends on how long you'd be able to keep Burrow if you drafted him. With the SF not being put in place until 2021 and the possibility of losing him a year or two later, I'd rather go with Mixon. And who knows, maybe Burrow falls to you at 1.05 since it's not a SF yet and depending on how much experience the other owners have with SF.

All rookie picks work like the NFL -- relatively cheap, draft-slotted four year deals, with first-rounders having a fifth year option. They can then be extended at market value or allowed to hit free agency.

Given that, I'm torn on whether I would use a high pick on Burrow or use this last year of a fairly robust young QB market to just sign someone like Baker, Allen, Darnold, etc long term.

The Mixon guy pulled out for now but *might* reevaluate once we know draft spots. I’m wary that if he’s waiting for the draft, the Bengals will either have improved enough that he won’t do it, or messed up enough that it’s no longer as attractive.

Think I should just push in on the picks if I can add Hardman to it? I still have a little trepidation about giving up a player like Cook but the return does look pretty nice on paper.

A deal in the hand.....I would work with people who are still interested, not people wait on people who "might" be later on.
