Hunter Henry vs Darren Waller

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hunter Henry vs Darren Waller

Postby nathanq42 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 4:14 pm

What is the gap between the two? Love Waller, not a fan of the substance abuse issues, hopefully he has bucked it but if I can buy low on Henry and lose that risk I would love it.

I don't think there should be much of a difference. Both are solid TE's. Henry has the age edge, but is hurt a lot and Waller is older. Even or player preference for me.

I'd say Henry >= Waller. I'd value both around a late 1st / early 2nd.

I'd rather have Waller, but I can understand people wanting Henry. The gap shouldn't be more than maybe a late 2nd either way.

Henry for me but maybe I'm drinking too much Brady to Chargers kool aid. Gap is a second for me.

Why? I have both and am thinking of trading one of them for O.J. Howard in a multi player trade.

My concern with Waller is he possibly a one year wonder. He has to deal with Foster M, who showed he can play in the league. Tight ends were probably over targeted in Oakland this year because of the WR issues, which could have led to inflated numbers.

I respect draft position. The analytics on this bear it out over the long haul of a players career. Henry was a 2nd and Waller a 6th.

I was thinking this was a great time to sell high on Waller.

I am not challenging you. Just want to know your "why" on this one since its a move I am contemplating.

They are pretty much even, although I'd give the slight edge to Henry. If I'm moving Henry for Waller, I'd probably want a second added to Waller.

Basically, I just don't think what Waller did was a fluke and think he's actually a very talented football player. The age gap isn't large enough for me to make a difference and Waller played a full healthy season, which Henry hasn't been able to do yet. I'm not trying to take anything away from Henry and think he's a very good TE, but I just prefer Waller.

i'd rather have henry than waller though waller should have some positive TD regression. i just think oakland gets more competition for targets and henry's got upside.

PPR Waller is solid......henry may have higher upside and a couple years younger...and more upside ....but weekly hit or miss.......

in my building of teams getting a te that is a consistent number....I prefer Waller....

I think thats a great point. Especially since most of us who don't have Kelce or Kittle are just trying not to get killed at the position.

I would rather have Henry than Waller. I could see most Henry owners asking for a late 2nd or early 3rd on top of Waller. They are very close, though.

henry over waller. i just cant buy in on a guy getting a blow up season in year 5 with a sketchy past and who played on a team totally void of receiving weapons. Henry proved to be a great redzone target and produced quite well even with KA, Williams, Gordon, Ekler in the lineup. Waller was competing with hunter renfrow for middle of the field looks... im definitely discrediting Wallers season but id rather say "awe shoot i should have tried to trade for him" than say "i knew i shouldnt have paid up and bought in to this dude"
