Moving up in 2020 draft

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Postby Nflnz » Mon Jan 06, 2020 5:57 pm

I have the 1.01 and 1.07 for team 1 in the 2020 draft.

Is it worth moving up to the 1.03/1.04 with a trade like the example below?

It's probably a move I'd make. I traded my 10th and 12th picks overall for the 1.05. I'd love to have as many inside the top 5-6 as I can get.

If all you have to do is give up 2.1 then do it. I like what I see out of skill position players coming out in 2020. I’ve been trying to move up from 1.6 to 1.2 and I offered 1.6, 1.12 and 2.12 or G. Tate and it got declined. Dude wants 1.6, 1.12 and an RB1/WR1 which in my opinion is steep but just an example what a sellers market can look like.

I don’t think you can get the 1.03 with that offer but definitely worth a shot. It’s a good deal for you if you can.

If you can make this deal, I would. That would be a really nice price to move up for you.

I would definitely make the trade if I could get it.... then hold the pick until closer to your rookie draft... and try to resell to someone who really wants to get their guy at 1.03 and sell for something like 1.05+1.09 (if such a team exists in your league). This way you moved up a couple spots on both picks but still get to make 3 picks in the first 10 instead of just 2. Even if you end up keeping 1.03 that's still a good place to be.

I really like the idea of getting in to the top 5. But what I'd do is look at the players coming out and see how many you're very high on. If there are 7 or more of them then stay put. If not, that's a very reasonable price to pay to move up IMO.

Also, considering you currently hold 1.01, if the market to move up in the draft is unreasonably high, then float that pick out there as the draft gets closer. Maybe someone will overpay to move from 1.03 to 1.01. Don't underestimate Rookie Fever Season.

Re: Moving up in 2020 draft - Updated

Postby Nflnz » Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:29 pm

UPDATED

I have reached out to the owner of the 1.03 and he is considering the offer of:

Give: 1.07 & 2.01
Get: 1.03

He is also rebuilding but does not have the picks I have moving forward so I think I will hit him with another offer and try and get this over the line.

I am thinking of adding my 2021 2nd and/or Ian Thomas (he needs TE help).

The owner of the 1.02 will take a WR as he is stacked at RB and drafted Harry last year at 1.02 so he will need to go WR again.

This will leave me with the 2 best RBs in the 2020 class and all of a sudden my team starts to look more balanced.

Would you hit the owner back with an updated offer before he comes back to me?
