If possible at all, what should I sell Gurley for?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

If possible at all, what should I sell Gurley for?

Postby hockeyBjj » Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:17 am

Three peat champion with a stacked roster tbh. Gurley is at this point my RB5 behind CMC, Cook, D Henry, Kamara (start 3RBs and a flex)

To get something for him, what should I take? Would rather get at least something for Mr. No Knees than to have him sit on my bench 2020 and maybe 2021 with a non startable workload and then retire.

I currently have 0 picks for 2020
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
2022: 1-8
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Dobbins, Achane, Charbonnet, Algier, McBride, waiver trash
WR: JSN, QJ, Addison, Dotson, Skyy Moore, Jameson Williams, Hyatt, T Dell, Boutte, Skowronek, Quez Watkins, Greg Dortch, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:
QB: Ljax, GenoD Jones, Minshew, Dobbs
RB: CMC, Stevenson, A Jones, Chubb, A Mattison, D cook, Perine, Mckinnon,
WR:Tyreek, Diggs, C Kupp, D Adams, Keenan Allen, Lockett, Gallup, A Lazard, Hodgins
TE: Kelce, LaPorta, Irv Smith,
No picks until 2026 5th rounder lol

I wonder if someone would be willing to give a 1st for him if it was in 2021 or 2022? Seems picks further out are a bit easier to acquire.

I'd probably take any 2020 1st in your situation. Otherwise, I'd just keep him.

No way anyone should give a 2020 1st for him. At this point I think you're looking at 2nd round at best. My team is RB needy and I wouldn't part with a 2020 or 2021 1st for him. Put it out to the league that he's available for a pick and take what you can get.

You don't think people will pay a late 1st for a high end RB2 that finished strong? He did well when the Rams stopped trying to limit his workload even though their offense struggled most of the year. He also only missed 1 game which was unrelated to the knee problem everyone is so worried about and still finished #14 in PPR. Even better in standard. He's likely going to have the same role next year, and I think there's a reasonable expectation that their offense can rebound some. I think there are plenty of contenders that will be willing to pay a late 1st for a plug and play RB2.

In the startup mocks happening now, he's still going in the range late 1sts go (6-7).

The trade calculators I use for value have him worth an early 1st on one, and 1.07-1.08 on another.

Using the DLF trade finder, I see that there have been 2 different trades involving Gurley for a 2020 1st plus in the last week. People are paying that price. It's not even a question.

Yeah, I doubt you get a first for him, I sure wouldn’t pay that. Go ahead and put him out there, but it sounds like you will be surprised when you don’t get any takers. I’d take a 2nd if I could get it for him.

Only other option would be to hold him, hope he plays well to start next season, and then try to sell him to a contender for a late first, but I don’t think you will get that value now.

This is what I'm thinking... Any competitive team in need of an RB2/3 should be buying Gurley for 1.10 or so all day. No Gurley owner is selling him for a 2nd. I'd probably need 1.7-1.9 personally, and that would only be during the draft if someone I really wanted fell to those picks.

If I was a contender with a late 1st and in need of RB, I'd pay it. Unfortunately, I already traded my 1sts in 2 of my leagues to win this year. Maybe I'll offer a 2021 1st this offseason...

It’s actually pretty funny that people think gurleys value is a single 2nd round pick.

The o-line was down 4 starters from the superbowl lineup most of the season, whether it was from injury or free agency. Ownership isn't going to sit back and let this season happen again without at least trying to fix the o-line. I don't think they have a first rounder because of the ramsey trade, but most linemen get drafted in the middle rounds. They should be able to improve somewhat between free agency and the draft. I think Gurley will be no worse than this season, assuming he remains healthy, but with an low rb1 ceiling. I own him and I'm not going to give him away for a second. I'll just have to agree to disagree with someone that evaluates him as a round 2 pick value.

Gurley’s contract will be going for several years. This year the rams o-line was 30-32 for a majority of the season by PFF, and obviously lost key players in the offseason that affected the o-line greatly. This not only affect Gurley and the ENTIRE offense, but shot Jared Goff. They will not put Goff in a position to fail like this again, and will address the o-line for him and the entire offense, including Gurley. A high end rb2- low end rb1 of this year this is absolutely no reason to sell him for a 2nd round pick. Move him for a 2021 1st if you’re desperate, but instead try to package him with other good assets to get a greater piece. By the way this is not the first time Gurley struggled badly, look at his sophomore year, which was way LESS efficient than this year, and was not affected by injury, but instead a terrible o-line.
