Top 3 picks in SF - Tua and Burrow?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Top 3 picks in SF - Tua and Burrow?

Postby Hankybro21 » Wed Dec 25, 2019 4:24 pm

Team 2.

I currently hold picks 1-3, 6-8, 13 and 14. I currently plan to take Burrow, Jeudy/lamb, and taylor/swift with those picks.

Obviously it’s wicked early, but I got to thinking today...would it be crazy to take both Burrow and Tua in the Top 3 if Tua’s health checks out? I already have Russ and Watson, but feel more comfortable with 4 QBs since it’s SF. I know the guy picking at 4 hates Tua, so slim chance he takes him, but the guy at 5 needs a QB and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him off the board at that spot at the latest.

In a Superflex certainly not crazy at all; even if you don’t keep all 4 long term you have some amazing trade pieces that teams would overpay for. Also the guy with 1.04 is a knob

Here is the problem with Tua and his health: everything coming from his camp, Bama, and the team that drafts him is going to say the standard "surgery went well, should make a full recovery, should be back stronger than ever, looks even better than before, etc." Dennis Pitta is the last guy to have an injury like this and it was 1.5 years before he was back and playing football.

I just think this 2020 draft has way too much top end talent to take a flier on a guy with a serious hip injury and already had injury concerns before that. If he falls to you at 6-8, then you've got a decision to make, but if he doesnt, that means one of the elite skill guys fell for you to snag at 6.

This was my thought process all along until I got to thinking today. The plan was to Take swift/Taylor, Jeudy, and Burrow. Then take three of tua, lamb, Taylor/swift, dobbins, and etienne. I guess it’ll just be whatever my risk tolerance is when push comes to shove

Not sure you can really go a wrong way here with all the top end talent/number of 1sts you have. More info on Tua will come in time.

I think a lot will depend on where he goes in the real draft. If he falls even to the end of the 1st, then I'd have some concerns. If someone takes him in the top 5 or even 10, I'd feel more comfortable and would be willing to take him with the 1.03. You probably don't need to since you'll have 3 starting QBs with Burrow, so passing on Tua regardless wouldn't be terrible. If you think he'll hold trade value in your league though, take him with the 1.03 and trade him to a QB needy team.

Not Crazy. I'd be talking to the owner of pick 5 when you're on the clock at 3.

This is also 10 team, so the SF part holds less weight. Especially with all your other flex spots - up to 4 RB and 5 WR.

That being said maybe the best thing for you is if it plays out like this: Burrow, Tua, Jeudy, 4 and 5 take Lamb and a RB, then you come back with your next picks grabbing RBs. If a good RB lands with the Chiefs, you could take them at 3, then all but assure the next picks are a WR and Herbert.

Great point. My concern would be that 4 and 5 would go RB and RB, and I am really wanting to land at least one of Swift/taylor/KC back.

If swift and taylor went 4 and 5, it would leave me with burrow, tua, Jeudy, lamb, ETN, Dobbins, which I would also be a solid haul. I think my best scenario is that tua gets drafted top 5-10 and Herbert gets a solid landing spot and gets nabbed at 4 or 5.
