Rebuild: No buyers for my Melvin Gordon.. still

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rebuild: No buyers for my Melvin Gordon.. still

Postby brutuswins » Wed Nov 06, 2019 5:30 pm

In my rebuild I have 3 2020 1st, 2nd, and 3 3rds (including the 1st pick in each round)
I have been trying to sell Melvin Gordon since he has returned with no interest and all 11 teams (other than mine) are 4-5 or better and fighting for a playoff spot.
I have been asking for an injured or young young player and a 1st for Melvin.
What would you look for? Maybe I have been shooting for the stars too much

At this point I am about to lock the door and just keep my core into 2020.. I am not going to just give away a potential RB1

Now's a pretty bad time to sell, so I'd hold as well. But if you're really ready to get rid of him go throw some offers out to different teams. I never get much feedback when I announce a player is "on the trade block". Seek it out. Who in your league really needs a RB, and who do you want from their roster.

I'd wait closer to your trade deadline if you aren't getting any takers. No need to rush a trade. Your asking price is fine.

QB - Tannehill, Rivers, , Trubisky, Big Ben
RB - Zeke, Chubb, Howard, Penny, Harris

Team 2. 12 team. 1 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX
QB - Watson, Tannehill, Trubisky,
RB - Kamara, M. Gordon, Ekeler, Mixon, Mostert, A. Peterson, G. Bernard, McKissic

Most have gordon as a sell. That typically leads to everyone knowing that and a limited market. Those who would buy are looking for a good price, not a over pay. Id imagine a solid prospect and 1st is too much right now.

I agree , if you're in a rebuild there is no hurry to sell him , just let everyone know he is getting hot and for sale , if you don't get a good offer hold him until the off-season

Agreed

Now in terms of brainstorming names to target -

Mixon straight up

Keenan Allen

Diggs

Evan Engram

Mark Andrews plus something like an early 2nd

Marlon Mack

OBJ?? Even if you have to pay a 21 First or a late 20 First

Not listing my IDP, but they matter as much as offense in this league
///
///
TEAM B - 32 teams, double copy - TEs get slight bump in scoring (1st year league, tanking this year to build through 2020 draft)
DARNOLD, Brissett, Rosen, Tyrod
SAQUON/MIXON, Hines, Gallman, L Miller
NUK/EVANS/OBJ/K ALLEN/HOLLYWOOD, Edelman, R Anderson, A Tate, Coutee, G Ward

I think you might have to aim lower than that. In leagues where I own those guys If I saw Gordon for them it’d be a snap decline. If I’m competing I’d rather have basically any of them than Gordon until he and the offense show they can produce, and if I’m rebuilding I don’t want an almost 27 YO back about to hit FA with a long history of injuries.

I was verbally offered Gurley and Parris Campbell for my Melvin Gordon.
This seems like a lateral move with Gordon/Gurley plus I get Campbell for free. Accept?

And to reply to the suggested trade targets, I actually have Engram, OBJ and traded Mixon away (thought about trading back for him tho lol)
I was considering trying to get Keenan for him

I'd sell him for any 2020 first at this point if I'm rebuilding. I think there's a real chance he holds out again next year, and a chance he holds out the entire year this time.

Tonight certainly did a $50k facelift on your attempt to move Gordon :)

Nothing like a true workhorse effort complete with nice catch and a TD, on national TV, to pique interest.

I'd definitely accept this, I'm not sure Gurley is as cooked as everyone thinks. I think he will outperform Gordon going forward, and I really like Campbell.
