Hooper is easily worth a #1?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hooper is easily worth a #1?

Postby imi814 » Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:10 am

For team 2 in sig. my team is pretty good but sitting at 5-3 due to crazy scoring with qbs. I have 6 number one picks in 2020. Other guy has offered me hooper for '20 #1 that should be mid. I already have ertz but is the value too good to pass up?

Going forward hooper is worth more than a one right? Even in a stacked draft.

Yes. I would try to push for the 1st to be one of your later picks however. Either way though, I would pay that for Hooper. He is an elite TE without the name.

He's worth more than a mid 1st, even if you already own Ertz (who he's outscoring by a good amount).

I don’t know much about salary cap leagues but that seems like an easy accept.

The salary cap does play a tiny part. For this year it will be no problem to fit hooper under my cap. But next year it might be tough for me to keep both ertz and hooper as their salaries will both be high. But do I make the trade on value and just worry about the cap next year?

Also if u keep rookies on your taxi they count zero against the cap. So #1 picks in this league might be worth more than a typical league due to the salary cap. You always need young cheap talent to work the cap.

I have lineup headaches every week. Having lots of good players is a great problem to have although I have noticed that one side effect is winning.

Owning the #1 TE in fantasy isn't a headache. You start him over Ertz every week and feel good about it, unless something crazy happens. Even if it doesn't work out some of the weeks, you take that risk. Hoping Ertz and that offense can have a decent game is the real headache for Ertz owners. Also, if the value is cheap, why wouldn't you buy a player? Depth is never a bad thing.

After you get Hooper then try and trade Ertz if you are really concerned about rostering both. Most teams are in TE hell that I bet someone will overpay on Ertz. I wouldn't even be shocked if you traded a mid first for Hooper and shipped Ertz out for equal or greater value than that.

I was thinking the same on ertz. I would prob hold ertz and look to trade him next year.

Hooper just sold in my league for '20 & '21 firsts which i thought was unbelievable but paying one first is a win.
