Thoughts on a total rebuild

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Thoughts on a total rebuild

Postby jdacunha » Sat Oct 26, 2019 5:55 am

So I am in the process of a total rebuild in a 10 team non ppr 4 pt passing TD league. I have recently traded Russell Wilson, Carson, Lockett and OBJ.

QB: Jared Goff, Mitchell Trubisky, Minshew
RB: Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, K Drake, Ty Johnson, Prosise, Justin Jackson, Darrell Williams, Peterson, Jay Ajayi; mostly keeping certain RBs because they are still young and many FAs this offseason. I don’t have my 1st rd pick so I am starting AP just to have a starting RB in my lineup.
WR: Brandin Cooks, Philip Dorsett, Tyrell Williams, AJ Green, Parris Campbell, Dionte Johnson, Allen Lazar, Bisi Johnson.
TE: Vance McDonald

2020 picks: two 1st rd picks (one should be top 5, the other 7-8th), 7 late picks 3rd-6th rd
2021: three 1st rd picks (should all be top 6 picks), two second round picks (should be top spots)

How bad is this team and is there anything else I should be doing? I haven’t traded AJG or Cooks because their values are low. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
21 Players Dynasty-10 teams, (Non-PPR, 4 pts per passing TD)
QB: Justin Herbert, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance
RB:Najee Harris, Breece Hall, Cam Akers, Devin Singletary, Travis Etienne, N Hines, Jaylen Warren
WR: Jamar Chase, Dionte Johnson, Mike Williams, Allen Lazard, Rondale Moore, Kadarius Toney, Christian Kirk, R, Jakobi Meyers Devin Duvernay, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs
TE: Kyle Pitts, G Everett

I’m not going to lie that team is a bit of a dumpster fire for a 10 Teamer especially and there isn’t a guy I’d advocate holding, maybe Parris Campbell and Deionte Johnson because you won’t get what you paid for them.
Take whatever you can get for most guys, chances are you won’t be competing for a few years so you’d be better off taking dart throws on 2nd 3rd and 4th round guys in stacked class than holding onto guys who may help you get a win or two which would make your draft picks worse.

What did you get for the 4 guys you traded?

Your team is rough for a 10 team league. Personally, I would not make any off limits on this team and would trade everyone if good deals come along. I would start 100% over with your build.

For the record, I made the SB in 2017 and 2018 only to lose.

Im in a similar situation with my team #2.

Id look to move Peterson for pretty much anything (i just got an early 3rd for him)

Id also be looking to move Ty Johnson while his value is high and Jordan Howard m before Sanders becomes the lead of that committee.

Id also wait until AJ Green is healthy and flip him

Just traded AJG for a 2nd in 2020. Should be a top 14 pick. There is no way I’d ever get a 1st for him.

I feel like your sold a little light on players that maybe would have better to build around for the return. Anyone left should be up for picks or younger players with upside.

I shopped every player to every owner. QBs are worthless, WRs are undervalued compared to RBs and no one likes Carson. What am I supposed to do? Hold to next year when their values are lower and one year older?

True I suppose every league values players differently.

Have you tried packaging multiple players for one pick? Maybe find some owner trying to make a push and send Cohen+Howard+Dorsett for one 1st?(depending on needs obv)

Also you will find a nice sell window right near the trade deadline when teams know they have made the playoffs and need some depth for the run. They wont be concerned they are sending the 1.05 or 1.06 type picks that way. Maybe they only have say Cook and Bell at rb and you can kind of talk up how Cohen and Howard make a nice insurance policy for the next 4-5 weeks. Tell them they arent paying for just backups, they can still use Cohen for years to come. Howard as well it looks like🤫🤥. Just my ideas...
