Update: OBJ for ARob+

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Update: OBJ for ARob+

Postby Jcedwards » Wed Oct 16, 2019 7:15 pm

Original:

SEND: OBJ
RECEIVE: Boyd, Hunter Henry OR OJ Howard, 2020 1st (probably mid), 2020 3rd (probably late)

Update:

Package has shifted from Boyd to ARob. Guy thinks that the current package of ARob, Henry, and 2020 1st is too much for OBJ. He proposed taking one of the 3 away, or adding a 2021 1st to OVJ, or adding Goedert and a 2021 2nd. So the package would be

- ARob, Henry, 2020 1st (pick 2 of them) for OBJ
- ARob, Henry, 2020 1st, 2020 3rd for OBJ and 2021 1st
- ARob, Henry, 2020 1st for OBJ, Goedert, 2021 2nd

Not sure I like any of these. I know OBJ has had a down year, but has his value slipped to this? Guy is devaluing OBJ because he wants to win it all this year again (current champ) and OBJ hasn’t done much and ARob has arguably been better.

I like the idea of getting Henry and ARob, but am torn on trading OBJ.

I'm keeping OBJ there. Just not enough talent on the other side. Maybe if you knew the 1st would be 1.01 or close to it... unless you're super high on Boyd, but I'm not. I think he's a guy.

I won’t say that I’m super high on Boyd, but I think he’s a great football player. He did better last year when Green was taking coverage away. So he should continue to do well when Green comes back. While OBJ is a generational talent, I wasn’t sure if this package helped out my team more. I’m stacked at WR, so losing OBJ won’t hurt too bad, but of course, I’m not selling him low.

Right now the 2020 1st is sitting at 1.09, but I’m not sure where it will end up honestly. The guy’s pick that it is has Ryan, Carr, Carson, KJ, Royce, Lat Murray, Woods, Landry, Sanders, John Brown, Tyrell, Shepard, Hooper, Olsen, Bills, Broncos, and Zeurlein as his main players. Don’t think it will end up 1.01, but it could fall back to top 6 pick.

I would continue to hold Beckham here in case he gets rolling. I think it would be tough to get past moving him regardless of build if he takes off.

The thing that is keeping me back is the thought of trading OBJ at all. I drafted him #2 in our startup a couple years ago. Sure, this year hasn't gone as everyone expected it to go, but none of that is on him. It is all on Kitchens, Mayfield, and that o-line. He's a generational talent. Do we expect the Browns to get better anytime soon, where his value will skyrocket again though? I'm not against trading OBJ anymore, like I once was, but of course I'm also not going to sell low while his value is down.

What would it take to move OBJ though>

Guy's roster:
QB- Kyler, Brissett, Kyle Allen, Foles (IR)
RB- CMC, DJ, Freeman, Damien Williams
WR- Julio, Mike Evans, Edelman, Boyd, Allen Robinson, Allison, Goodwin
TE- Henry, Howard, Fells

He has 3 1sts (projected early, mid, and late). I have inquired on the early 1st, but he is pretty much locked into keeping that.

How far off is the trade in your opinion then? Substitute another WR for Boyd? Or what?

Beckham by a lot. I'd counter with Boyd + Robinson + Murray + mid 2020 1st.

For OBJ? If I wasn't going to keep him, I'd be looking to move all-in to win this year and next. Give me Henry (yes, know the injury risk) + DJ (he's 28) + Edelman (or ARob) + 1st.

You keep correctly identifying OBJ as a generational player and then are willing to move him for trash like Boyd. Another thing about OBJs game: He's amazing at all the things that age well: May be the best route runner in the game, his hands are legendary, he studies and knows were to hide out, and you can chuck it to him with a defender ridding piggyback and he'll grab it. Let the Browns suck this year, fix their O-Line woes next season, and reap your rewards.

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting it to be that much, but I can see that his offer seems light now.

Thing is I have the team to win it all this year. Pretty stacked at almost every position, so maybe with the roster I have, I keep him for a potential championship run. I'm not sure I agree with you that Boyd is trash. Of course he isn't on OBJ's level, but I think he is a good player. Obviously, I need to keep OBJ then, unless he ups the offer even more.

Yes, OBJ easily here and its a very bad time to be selling him, at least wait until he blows up for a few games if you want to move him.

Does it make a difference if it is Allen Robinson instead of Boyd?
