Roethlisberger is available on waivers - Drop Minshew to pick him up? How much FAAB to use?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Roethlisberger is available on waivers - Drop Minshew to pick him up? How much FAAB to use?

Postby inaykipr » Fri Oct 04, 2019 1:38 pm

Ben Roethlisberger was dropped in my 10 team superflex league (team 2 in my signature) and is now available to pick up from waivers. I'm tempted to grab him and then place him on my IR in the place currently occupied by Hunter Henry, who will be active again soon. I would probably drop Minshew, who I recently picked up to add some depth in case something happens to one of my other QBs (especially during bye weeks). I would lose that depth but I would gain a starting option next season. If you were to do this how much FAAB would you use? I currently have $80 of my origional $100. Thoughts? Thanks!

Yes, drop Minshew and throw a majority of your FAAB at Big Ben. Could be huge for next year.

I would NOT drop Minshew. He's looked like a legit NFL QB and could very well keep the starting job even after Foles is ready to return. If anything, I'd drop Bridgewater for Roethlisberger and bid about $30-$40.

Drop Bridgewater, not Minshew.

Agreed, Bridgewater is the better drop option.

Piling on. Minshew could be an NFL starter going forward. Bridgewater has always looked like a career backup imo.

Drop Sternberger and put Ben on your IR if that's an option.

I'm not able to add directly to the IR unfortunately. I feel like I will need to drop Sternberger later this season if the Packers activate him because I'm not sure who I would drop to keep him on the roster.

If you can only drop someone on your current roster and aren't able to trade anyone, then I'd drop Bridgewater. It's only a matter of time until Brees comes back. I like Minshew much more than Teddy long-term.

I'm going with this. Teddy is proving that he's NOT the answer in NO. The thing about Minshew is that he's not having these huge blow-up weeks; he just seems to play sound football, which is what starters are made of.

Also like trading Teddy to the Brees owner for a late pick next year or finding a buyer for Olsen.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input! I ended up being able to trade Bridgewater away for a 2020 3rd. It was certainly nice to get something for him instead of simply dropping him. I was also able to pick up Roethlisberger off waivers for $47 FAAB. There was one other person interested in Roethlisberger and they bid $0... bummer. I'm happy to have him stashed away for next season though.
