Ekeler vs Coleman

Postby KingWizard12 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 4:05 pm

Team 2

With the news Melvin Gordon is coming back after week 4 should I trade Tevin Coleman for Austin Ekeler.

I was pretty high on Coleman in the offseason but that time share is starting to worry me thinking I won’t be able to know when he’ll have a good game.

And while Gordon will get a majority of the work Ekeler should still keep a role and possibility expand that role next year when Gordon is gone. Id also get Ekeler for one more game as the starter

I would make that deal, but I'm not high or a believer in Coleman at all.

I dont like either but think you’ll have better opportunity to flip Coleman for higher value than Ekeler later in the season, so I’d keep Coleman.

I think both replies so far are valid points. The high risk/possible reward is hoping Coleman stays healthy and has a few good games, where you can get more than an "Ekeler" for him... and I would not hold Coleman too long, he is too risky and you never truly know what a ShanaSham is going to do :)

The safer play is to make the move for Ekeler, he will not be the stud he is now, but as we know, he has standalone value even if they decide to use Gordon as they did prior to the hold out. Next year... who knows, he could be the man again OR they could sign someone else, but I believe he will have RB2/Flex value for at least a few years.

So, what's my choice? I go the safer play here and choose Ekeler :)

Team of record, and not the whole team, but enough for questions I'll be asking...
QB: CJ Stroud, Minshew, Hendon Hooker, Trey Lance
RB: Etienne, Jerome Ford, E. Mitchell, Jordan Mason, Jerrick McKinnon, Deuce Vaughn, Keaton Mitchell, Pierre Strong
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, Brandon Aiyuk, Gabriel Davis, Tank Dell, Romeo Doubs, Alec Pierce, Demario Douglas, John Metchie, Charlie Jones
TE: Dallas Goedert, Jawaun Johnson, Chig Okonkwo
IDP (start 2LB, 2DB, 1DL)

Relevant picks:
2024: THREE 1st, THREE 2nds, TWO 3rds
2025: 2nd, two 3rds, 4th, 5th

Roster 30 (+3 IR), keep 20; Scoring: 6pts per TD for all, 0.5 PPR
Start: 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR/TE, 1TE... the rest is insignificant for most posts :)
7 round rookie/FA draft each year.

Ekeler pretty easy for me.. I guarantee he will have a solid role after what he’s proved... every team is trying to save their featured back now, easy 8-12 carries a game with Gordon back.
Best of all, just one injury away from a featured role he already proved he could handle.

Coleman is in a huge time share almost guaranteed to stay that way. And older

Ekeler. Even with Gordon back he will see a lot of snaps and be a weekly flex play.

Ekeler is in a better situation, is younger and at least as talented.

Get Ekeler now if the offer is on the table. Coleman sucks.
