Pettis dropped?

Dante Pettis was dropped in my dynasty startup. Selected at the 6.07. Out the door for Demarcus Robinson.

Does this seem really early? Team that dropped him hung on to Boykin, Campbell, Sanu and Diontae Johnson instead.

Pettis is either in the dog house, or banged up, for the Niners. Has hardly been used and is facing competition for targets. Hurd and Taylor will return too.

What's a good bid here? He won't be available until next Wednesday's FAAB. Our most obvious drop is Trey Quinn. We also have Brian Hill, but are playing the long game with him.

I would drop Hill for Pettis. Even hoping long term with Hill is a long shot in my opinion. Not sure Pettis is a great piece right now but maybe long term.

Def drop Hill for him. That's easy.

Pettis has some major off-field stuff going on, obviously. Whatever is causing this bizarre fall is more than just "he's fallen down the depth chart due to superior teammates".

I’d just hold onto what you have. Pettis is a poor man’s Deebo Samuel. His ceiling isn’t much higher than Quinn’s, if at all, and his floor is significantly lower. Hill might be more of a long shot, but I think his ceiling is higher than Pettis’s too. I’d much rather chase upside on the end of my bench than waste a roster spot on a low-floor guy whose most optimistic ceiling is maybe a back-end WR2 if the stars align perfectly for him.

Who in the world drafted Pettis at 6.07? Way too early. He's in the doghouse for sure. Dude is talented so my guess is it's mental. I'm personally not looking to take chances on guys like that, odds are that it doesn't tend to end well. If you want to go after him, I wouldn't bid much at all.

17 FFPC start-up drafts, he went between 6.09 and 8.09 in every one. Average ADP of 7.06. Your opinion is that is too early. Fine. Even if he should have been a 12th, that's better than the usual flotsam and jetsam on the waiver wire. For reference, Quinn was our 18th rounder, Hill our 20th.

My point, from the beginning, is what is a good FAAB bid? So far, we have he's better than Quinn, he's better than Hill, and don't touch him. No one has offered an amount.

I'd definitely drop Hill to take a flyer on Pettis. I don’t play in leagues with FAAB, so I couldn’t tell you how much to spend. I wouldn’t bid a ton though.

He still showed talent (in my opinion) at the end of last year and that is worth taking a chance on. Don't mortgage your FAAB, but that seems like an appropriate amount for dynasty.

Completely disagree that he doesn't have much more upside than Trey Quinn.
