How much FAAB would you blow on Harry if he was available?

I'd try to acquire enough FAAB to ensure that I got him. Like seriously offer someone who has already spent enough that they can't get him a 3rd for some FAAB. I'd also probably look into this...unless it's just an absurdly shallow league there's no excuse for dropping Harry.

Ya I don't really get dropping him. We have 2 IR spots that he could sit on there are 15 bench spots. There are a lot of other players i would have dropped from that roster before him.

People actually have dropping a player a option in dynasty fantasy?
In both 16 team leagues I play in you can’t even drop a player into a free agent pool. Get 3 pickups and 100$ faab a season.
Rookies unless they are activated which means start on your roster for a game, their contracts don’t even start until then or next season if someone try’s to claim them
At the draft in the claims process. If no one claims them they are still on a un activated rookie contract forever if you pay the 10$ a player each season to keep them
On your practice squad.

The vast majority of dynasty leagues permit you to drop, yes. Most leagues don't have contracts/salaries, and a lot of contract/salary leagues still allow you to drop players but may impose a penalty.

You have to realize that your rule set (no drops, 3 pickups, rookies not having a contract until activated, etc.) is very specific and not common, right?

May not be that common. But it’s a whole lot funner then no contract type basically keeper leagues not dynasty.
I believe the name of the type of the 2 16 team dynasty leagues I’m in are called legacy dynasty league? Could be wrong though

There are variations of keeper leagues similar to contract/salary cap leagues (e.g. to keep a player you drafted in the 1st round of a snake draft, you give up your 1st, or to give up the amount of auction $ you spent on that player if it's an auction draft). The only real difference between dynasty and keeper is that keeper you can only keep a portion of your roster. In that sense, contract leagues are actually closer to keeper than dynasty.

Also, I've played in a contract league. I didn't like it as much. Different strokes for different folks. (Also we were still allowed to drop players, but if they were on a multiyear contract it counted against your contract cap...which is what I mean by "your precise rule set is not common")

There’s a lot more strategery to it. The league started as an auction draft with 200$ salaries 22 years ago. Can keep 9 players, not counting the players on the practice squads that have never been activated since being drafted. Rookies on practice squad don’t count against the cap Until activated.
And rookie contracts are tiered by rookie draft round. There is a claim process to start the draft. Then a 2 round rookie draft. Then free agents are auctioned until you’ve met filling roster requirements . Followed by 5 more rounds of a draft.
Contracts are 3 years then you have the option to resign up to 5 years. If you want to cut a players that’s on his second contract and want to cut that player in the off-season you will owe all the cash remaining off that players salaries to the pot$.
Rookies on practice squad cost 10$/player every year to keep them on your team.
It’s a fun way to play. This leagues been around for 22 years and it has only ever had one person leave the league due to be a gambling problem and he promised his wife no more gambling and that included fantasy football I guess.
If your good at drafting rookies that perform well in this format it’s a big advantage because you will have a low salary And are able to make it rain in auction drafts on the studs who are available.
