Cook for 4 1sts

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Cook for 4 1sts

Postby Hahaclintondix » Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:36 am

Started 0-2 with a good team. There are 4-5 other fairly strong teams in the league (1 or 2 really good teams that are clearly above the rest), 3 in the middle and 3 bottom feeders. My upcoming schedule isn’t very favorable either since I play 4/5 vs those other top teams.

Got this offer:

Give: Dalvin Cook
Get: 2020 1st (6-10), 2020 1st (8-12), 2021 1st, 2022 1st.

QB: Rivers, Brees
RB: Mixon, Cook, Barber, Lat Murray, Gore
WR: Thomas, Allen, Hilton, Green, Davis, Ant Miller
TE: Delanie, Cook, Hooper
Picks: 2020 1st (mine), 2020 1st (8-12), 2021 1st (late), 2022 1st (mine)

If I accepted, what would be my next course of action? Sell Green, Hilton, Delanie, J Cook? I’ve tried flipping firsts for RBs, but nobody is selling since all good RBs are on competitive teams.

I would not take this deal. On the surface this seems like a solid deal but Cook is finally healthy and playing extremely well. Why move him now for four unknown assets? He is still young and you can build around him if you decide to retool a bit.

Ugh, tough situation. First off, Dalvin looks special again and I think he very well might finish as the overall #1 player this year (obviously if he stays healthy). Perfect situation for him with Diggs, Theilen, Kubiak, etc. Four 1sts is good value for him indeed - but I think with Mixon/Dalvin, you have a very strong and young RB core so I would be building off of them, not selling them off for future unknown 1sts (even with the endless 2020 class hype). Only you know what your "real" chances are this year but even with 0-2 start and 4-5 contenders, I would think you have a decent chance of making playoffs - and once you're in, anything can happen. I'm not of the ilk to have a decently strong team and simply mail it in for future seasons - to me, this is (1) not fun and (2) not smart, as fantasy football playoffs are a complete crapshoot regardless of how strong your team appears on paper (guy who won our league last year has an absolutely atrocious team on paper). With a healthy Dalvin/Mixon/MT/Keenan/TY/AJG come playoff time, I'd say you have as good a shot as any if you can make it into the dance. I'd probably go for it this year with your team, knowing that you already have two 1sts next year. I would look to bolster TE and #3 RB over course of this season. Hope that helps.

How can you predict so confidently where those picks will land? He will be adding Cooks to his line-up. You could end with a bunch of 1.10's or so, I hold Cook.

I would want the 2021-22 firsts to be 2020. 2022 1st should not be valued as a 1st right now.
Team 1: 2012-2016
2013 Champion, 2012 Runner-Up

Team 2: 12 Team PPR - 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 R/W/T, 23 man rosters, est. 2016
2021 Champion, 2020 Runner-up
Tua, Purdy Geno, Carr
JT, Ekeler, Mostert, Javonte, Chuba, D. Harris, M. Carter, J. Hill, Spiller
Chase, AJB, Amon-Ra, Aiyuk, Olave, DJM, Dell
Andrews, McBride, Engram
IR(3): Chubb, M. Williams, Rodgers
Taxi(4): J. Palmer, Tolbert, T. Palmer
2024 Picks: 3, 4, 5

Team 3: 12 Team PPR, 6 pt Pass TD - 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 3 R/W/T, 28 man rosters, est. 2019
2021 Champion, 2022 Runner-up
Jackson, Love, Tannehill, Z. Wilson
Barkley, Mixon, Mostert, J. Wilson, CEH, Gaskin, J. Hill
J. Jefferson, Diggs, Waddle, Evans, Metcalf, Sutton, R. Moore, Slayton, Berrios, Carter, Dortch, Powell, Raymond
Kelce, Dissly, Hooper
2024 Picks: 1
