"Offered" a blockbuster for my rebuilding team

Postby WOATjohn » Mon Sep 16, 2019 10:58 am

I am looking at the 1st overall pick in 2020 and I have 3 1st round picks so I am just cruising along this season.
It is a 12-team full PPR league with DEEP rosters and lineups
I was offered:
I get Kamara, Michael Thomas and Parris Campbell from the 2019 champion
I give Mixon, Odell Beckham and David Montgomery

Do I take this?

My core is: Baker, Mixon, Melvin, Montgomery, Justice Hill, Odell, AJ Brown, Deebo, Anthony Miller
I have 3 2020 1sts (my own pick which looks like 1.01), my own 2nd, and 3 3rds (including my own)

Seems like a lateral move, buuuut I'd prefer Kamara > Mixon & Montgomery > Campbell long term (OBJ and Thomas are close). Clearly this guys is making a move now because of the Brees injury and wants to defend his title. Since this is pretty close, I'd go with the guys you prefer.

I would take that trade as I think
Kamara>Mixon
MT=OBJ
Campbell<Montgomery, But the difference in Kamara over Mixon makes that up.

Thats my thinking, which is why I wanted to hear opinions.
I was thinking of just offering something for Michael Thomas, since I'd prefer to have a better WR core going into the 2020 draft.

I like the deal long term more with Thomas over Beckham in theory. We are about to see what the elite Saints players can do without Brees. I still think I like the deal but Brees could retire at any time which makes this a bit more complicated for me. I would go with which set of players you prefer because it's very close.

I think it's lateral enough you could ask for at least a 2nd on top. Tell him you'd like a few late picks, a 2nd and a 3rd, since you are rebuilding to go with it. It won't stop him from making the trade and it seems you slightly prefer his side anyway.
TEAM 1 - 12 man SF. ppr, TEP 1.65 ppr

11 starters - QB, RB(2) WR(3) TE, SF, Flex(3)

Stroud, Kyler, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Minshew, Trey Lance, Dalton l, Mike White

Breece, Achane, AJ Dillon, Justice Hill, Evan Hull, Chris Rodgriquez

Chase, Lamb, Waddle, Olave, London Drake, Demario Davis, Jake Bobo

Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews, Kincaid, Schoonmaker

24 picks - 1x2, 3,4,5

Team 2-
12 man SF, .25ppc, .5ppr rbs, 1 ppr wr, 1.5 ppr TE

Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawerence, Jake Haehner, Jake Browning

JT, Kendre Miller,, K Ingram, Ty Chandler, Michael Carter, Kenny Macintosh, Sean Tucker

Puka, Rondale, Mooney, Wan’dale, Terrace Marshall, DPJ, Justyn Ross, Xavier Hutchinson,

Kyle Pitts, Luke Musgrave, Juwan Johnson, Darnell Washington, Jelani Woods, Elijah Higgins

Try to get his second rounder. I'm sure he will comply, then make the deal.

He only has his 3rd rounder. He’s a juggernaut team that needs this trade more than I do. I’m being patient

That is smart. You are in position to squeeze him a bit. Don't be surprised if it evaporates though. Sounds like you may be able to play him off against other teams too.

Idk if I take it

I like OBJ better than MT, ill get a clearer picture Sunday if MT is any got without DB

Id say Kamara=Mixon and Montgomery

Campbell and he second don't do much for me right now.

I'm sure I'm the minority here

I just voted Mixon side and very surprised to see the lopsided vote results - especially given how close this trade is. For me:
Kamara > Mixon, but not by much
MT < OBJ, by a pretty good amount (especially with increasingly short Brees window)
Parris << Monty
I would definitely need more than a 3rd to part with the OBJ side. And I also don't like tying your two studs to the same team, especially one where their HOF QB is soon to retire. I also think it's likely that both Kamara and MT have already hit their all-time peak dynasty values (roughly a year ago), but this is obviously a complete guess/opinion. If they were traded or another HOF-caliber QB somehow ends up in NO, my opinion might change.

I agree with everything you said.
However, if I did get the Kamara package I don’t think he’d be on my team in 2020. I try to trade players at peak value, rather that’s their own peak value or a contender is panicking and needs to make a move to feel relevant (like the guy offering me this).
To me MT and Odell are nearly a wash but I’m trying to figure out who would get more in return, Kamara or Mixon/Mont side.
Going into the 2020 rookie draft I am hoping to have 2 top 15 WRs and then I’ll build the rest through the draft. I have 3 1sts, 1 2nd, and 3 3rds, including my own pick I. Each round (which is currently the 1.01 by far).
I currently have a great foundation but I’m trying to gauge which helps me most next year.
