Help setting contract lengths

Just finished my first salary cap/contract league startup auction. None of us had ever done an auction before, so I think we all got a little spendy early on. I don’t wanna hamstring my team for years to come, so I was hoping to get some advice on how long to sign some of these guys for.

20-player rosters, $400 cap, 60 total contract years, players on a $1 salary cannot be signed for more than one year. Cap hit for cutting a contracted player is 50% of salary times number of remaining contract years.

Here are my non-$1 players:

QB: Wilson $31
RB: Gurley $71, Gordon $62, Dam. Williams $36, Guice $24, Henderson $14, J. Hill $4
WR: Godwin $50, Pettis $5, Hamilton $2
TE: Kittle $73, Howard $20

I definitely overspent on Wilson so I’m only giving him a one-year deal. Williams is also just a one-year rental.

Gurley and Gordon are tough because there’s so much uncertainty surrounding both of them. I was thinking two-year deals for both. Maybe sign Henderson to a two-year deal as well for Gurley insurance?

Kittle and Godwin are the toughest. Both are young and ascending, but I feel like I might’ve overspent a little on them. 2-3 years each, maybe?

The guys I’m most interested in locking up long term are Guice, Hill, Pettis, Hamilton and Howard. I was thinking three years for Hill and four for the rest? Any of these guys worth locking up relatively cheaply on a five-year max?

I like who you are looking to lock up long term based on upside and potential value. I would have gone a much different direction with the high priced rb's but hopefully they both work out for you. How many teams are in the league? Your wr's are in pretty rough shape currently. I don't know a ton about this format either however.

It’s a 12-team league. Yeah, this is not how I planned for things to go. Haha. The elite players were going for $100-$125, so I kinda felt like I got decent value on Kittle and the RBs, but definitely at the expense of my WR corps. I have a feeling there’s going to be a LOT of buyer’s remorse and a bunch of the high-end players will just get one-year deals and the market corrects itself next offseason.
