While I know in a vacuum Ertz is the pick here but..
In my league (see signature) QBs are valued high, 6 Pts per Pass TD, and you have to keep 3 QBs so there is nothing on the wire usually. I have Big Ben and Mariota. Trying to plan for the future. I'd be left with Njoku, D Walker, and Herndon. Or should I just ride the Big Ben wave and hope to hit on a QB in the draft?

With the 6 points for TDs, I think the value is on the Watson side here. You still have decent TE options without Ertz.

i'm keeping ertz. ben's fine, i'd explore upgrading mariota+ or ben+ at a lower cost than someone like ertz but this feels like a panic move

You know what. Some of this is going to be League dependent. Go shop Ertz around for a QB + pick or something like that. If you really can't find anything, then sure make the deal it will help you out. The fact that you have to keep 3 QBs means that you are artificially raising the value of QBs to acquire even if they are not as valuable scorers.

Just because you have to roster 3 doesn't make them that much more valuable. You still only start 1 and the OP already has a pretty good starting QB. Your other 2 QBs can be backups if you want and it doesn't change much. Why would you give up a stud TE just so you can have a good QB sitting on your bench for the entire season? That hurts his starting lineup and a chance to try to compete. And even with those requirements, I don't think it'll be difficult replacing Big Ben in a year or two (or even later this year). Owners will realize during the season that having a bunch of QBs on their bench isn't helping them and will move one for a decent player not worth nearly as much as Ertz.
