Trade for Watson?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade for Watson?

Postby REPTAR » Wed Aug 14, 2019 7:17 am

Have an opportunity to trade for DeShaun Watson but would likely mean giving up Marlon Mack. 12 team 1 QB league and have Russell Wilson. Don’t think I’m winning the ‘ship this year though and like Watson’s age/upside going forward. Only other RBs on roster are Michel, M Sanders, L Murray, Hyde. Might be able to work getting Dion Lewis or Ekeler back, but in a pickle as to whether I should do the deal at all. Any help appreciated thanks!

I'd take that easily. Watson could be your QB for 10-15 years. Mack could be replaced as early as next year. This deal allows you to put a key piece in place as you retool.
14 TM / Devy / SuperFlex / TEP
1 Q / 2 RB / 2 WR / 1 TE / 1 SF / 3 F / 1 DT / 2 DE / 3 LB / 2 CB / 2 S / 1 F

QB: Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence
RB: Zamir White, James Conner, Trey Benson, Jaylen Warren, Will Shipley
WR: Michael Pittman, Puka Nacua, Drake London, Christian Kirk, Josh Palmer
TE: Trey McBride, Jake Ferguson, Noah Gray
PK: Justin Tucker, Jason Myers
DT: Grover Stewart, Devonte Wyatt
DE: Alex Highsmith, Jonathan Cooper, Gregory Rousseau, Matt Judon, Baron Browning
LB: Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Ernest Jones, Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell
CB: L'Jarius Sneed, Deommodore Lenoir, Taron Johnson
S: Derwin James, Talanoa Hufanga, Kareem Jackson
DEVY: RB Nick Singleton PSU
2024 DEVY DEPLETED PICKS: 1.11, 1.13, 2.03, 2.05, 2.13, 3.01, 3.07, 3.10, 3.12, 4.03, 4.11, 4.15, 5.01, 5.02

If you are retooling for the future, I would make the deal. You would not have to worry about your QB position going forward as you retool. If you are not retooling and are a piece or two away, I would keep Mack for upside this season since you have Wilson. The big issue I see with Mack is the 2020 class is very strong at RB, so do the Colts try to get a true workhorse or stick with Mack? I think Mack could keep the job but is going to have to show up big this year.

Mack > Watson straight up in 1QB, but I'd consider Mack for Watson + Ekeler or Watson + 2nd.

This is what I was thinking as well, if I go through with it...
