Could this team be contender within one draft ?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Could this team be contender within one draft ?

Postby ravn88 » Mon Aug 12, 2019 12:56 pm

I took over this team a few month ago. Did some wheeling and dealing.

Starting lineup: QB, SF, RB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX, TE

QB: Mayfield, Wentz, Haskins & Tannehill
RB: Elliott, Lindsay, Freeman, Sanders,
WR: Evans, Cooks, Landry, Gordon, Metcalf, R. Ridley
TE: Ebron & Engram

2020 picks:

5 x 1st and 3 2nd
2 Early, 2 mid and 1 late.

would/could 8 of the first 24 players next year make this team a contender ?

Could happen. If you land multiple solid RB's that contribute early, there is a chance. Your team is on the right track either way with an eye on the playoffs in 2020.

Oh yeah it’s not a great chance but it’s not the worst either. The qbs+zeke give you a shot against almost anyone on a given week

5 firsts in a loaded draft class is enough to make anyones team a potential success.

I think you'll be in an ideal scenario to mix it up by making some picks and trading some of those picks for high upside players already contributing in more solid situations then rolling the dice of all rookie picks. Nice rebuild!

So you would trade, for Some proven player(s) with Some of the later picks already or after this Season.

Draft picks peak in value RIGHT before the leagues rookie draft. Argument can be made that they are higher before the NFL draft as each players situation still isn't set. Highly touted rookies going to the wrong team can devalue a pick, however to the right team increases the value

I wouldnt even consider trading one of them until that point. Or you get what you consider to be an overpay.

Rookie RB's tend to produce right away while the majority of rookie WR's tend to take 2-3 years to reach peak value. Why not hit on a couple of RB's and QB's at the top end of the draft. And then trade away a couple of the extra picks to guys with rookie fever for someone with a clearer situation. (someone like Corey Davis this year as an example).
