Cutdown - pick 2

Postby The Pyrate » Sat Aug 10, 2019 11:09 am

It's close to cut-down time for me. Poll question is which two to cut. Side question is, do you think this team goes to the playoffs. League requirements in sig, starters in bold.
THE PYRATES. Terrorizing this league since 2006 - Playoffs (06,07,10,11,13-16,18, 19)
4 Division titles, 5 Superbowls (2006, 2013-2016), 2013 CCFL Champions

QB: D.Watson, T.Bridgewater, C.Newton, AJ.McCarron, J.Hurts-R
RB: D.Henry, K.Drake, A.Dillon-R, D.Evans-R, R.Armstead, D.Lewis, F.Gore, B.Hill, D.Williams, D.Dallas-R,
WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk
TE: T.Kelce, C.Herndon
K: M.Gay, M.Prater
DEF Texans, Seahawks

14-team, 2 division, non-ppr with salary caps. Starts 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, K, DST
Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.

Brissett and Bridgewater are easy cuts. I think if Miller holds his starting job, you could make the playoffs.

Definitely Brissett, then a toss-up between Ware and Teddy. I would cut Ware, don't see any clear path to carries and don't think he's very talented.

I chose Brissett & Other (Grier). A league where you start only 1 QB and you have 5 on the roster, 3 that are back-ups.
12 Team - 1 pt. PPR, 23 Player Roster, (10 Starters) 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLX (RB, WR, TE), 1 K, 1 DEF

Masters of the Gridiron (Est. June 4th 2016) 2022 Regular Season Record: 21-7, 2nd Place (Playoffs 0-2, Lost 3rd Place Consolation Game)
QB: Jalen Hurts, Trey Lance, Matthew Stafford, Desmond Ridder, Gardner Minshew, Tom Brady
RB: Rhamondre Stevenson, Joe Mixon, Damien Harris, Devin Singletary, Jeffery Wilson, Kareem Hunt, Pierre Strong
WR: Ceedee Lamb, Stefon Diggs, Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, Jahan Dotson, Diontae Johnson, Donovan Peoples-Jones, K J Hamler
TE: Mark Andrews, Travis Kelce, Dallas Goedert, Chigoziem Okonkwo
K: Evan McPherson
D/ST: Kansas City Chiefs

Draft Picks
2023: 3.4, 3.5

Grier, Teddy, Brissett, or Ware. No need to keep that many QBs in anything other than a SF league imo

I probably ought to explain Grier. He is my league's "Mr Irrelevant" last pick of the draft, and I traded to get him.

While I typically agree you don't need more than 2 QBs in a 1 QB league, because both of my QBs are runners I usually like to handcuff at least one. This is made double important as my league also cuts the waiver-wire at week 13, so for playoffs, you only have who you have on your roster.

If Watson gets dinged, I move to Cam. But if Cam gets dinged, I need a hand-cuff. Grier is a good backup who could hold a start or two if needed, plus since he is a rookie, I can slide him over to the Taxi squad for up to 3 years.

SNEAKY!!! :)

So, my lean at the minute is cutting Ware and then picking between Bridgewater and Brisset. to me, Brisset is more likely to get a starting position with next year's free agency, but Bridgewater could be next year's Saints starter (I don't believe that Brees has much left in tank). Tough choice.

How much salary cap does it cost to add a K and DST off waivers for one week? I'd see no reason to roster Dustin Hopkins and SEA DST unless there's cap implications that make streaming a K and DST for bye weeks very expensive.

That sir, is not a bad idea. Cap cost isn't really prohibitive when it comes to K2 and DST2. I did just pick up Rosas from NYG and dumped Hopkins, but I'm not hooked on him. It would give me 5 weeks to find out if Luck will every play again or if Brees will be looking like a super-bowl MVP or a Denver Broncos super-bowl Peyton Manning.
