Draft in Two Days Need Advice

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Draft in Two Days Need Advice

Postby ThatGuyBrian » Thu Aug 08, 2019 1:36 pm

My dynasty league is draft in a couple of days and I need advice on what to do in the first round.

Currently I know this is how the top five picks will play out (I have the 2nd and the 4th)
1.01 Josh Jacobs
1.02 David Montgomery
1.03 Miles Sanders (I have talked to the owner and he is taking sanders because he needs running backs)
1.04 N'Keal Harry (This is where I need advice. I want to take Harry but I really need a tight end and really like Fant)
Should I draft the best player available or draft for the position of need?
1.05 Tj Hockenson
1.06 Noah Fant (here is why I can't pick Fant at seven the guy drafting at five and six needs tight ends and I have tried to get the sixth pick from him)
I know for a fact that he is set on taking Hockenson and Fant at these spots. Do I draft Fant at four?
1.07 (???) I am not sure what to do with this pick. I want to take another receiver (Brown or Metcalf) but I kind of want to trade the pick for possibly a tight end (everyone in this league over values tight ends). What should I do at this pick knowing that Fant will not be available.
1.08 Marques Brown
1.09 (???) no clue
1.10 Kyler Murray
2.01 Darrell Henderson (I have gurley and have to take him here because everyone in the league wants Henderson)

I am offering Michel and White as trade bait but it seems that no one is interested or severely undervalue them

Thanks for the help

Either trade down or take Harry.

No way I'm passing on a first round WR drafted by the patriots for a rookie TE. TE's take time to develop, you likely won't be able to start Fant for a few years. In the meantime, Harry could be putting up 1k yard seasons with Tom Brady and you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for taking a TE so early
10 Man IDP, .75 ppr, Big Play Bonus, TE Prem, 2 QB, 1-3 RB, 2-4 WR, 2 TE, 2 DT, 2 DE, 3 LB, 4 DB, 34 Keepers (17 off - 17 IDP)
QB: Watson, Lawrence, Tannehill, Fitzmagic
RB: Jacobs, Javonte, Drake, Mack
WR: Thomas, DJ Moore, Mike Williams, Golladay, Mooney, Kirk, Shepard, Parker
TE: Kittle, Ito Smith, Ebron, Bryant, Seals-Jones
DT: Simmons, Cox, Oliver, Vea
DL: Bosa, Hunter, Heyward, Greenard, Odeyingbo
LB: Watt, White, Cunningham, Kirksey
DB: Collins, Duggar, J Reid, Clark, Edmunds

12 Man, 1 ppr, 1 QB, 1-3 RB, 1-3 WR, 1 TE
QB: Tua, Jameis, Cam, Taysom
RB: Taylor, Javonte, CEH
WR: Jefferson, Nuk, Diontae, Juju, Shepard, Mooney, Robby Anderson
TE: Henry, Gesicki, Brevin, Cook

12 Man, 1 ppr, 1 QB, 1-3 RB, 1-3 WR, 1 TE
QB: Russ, Matty Ice, Tannehill
RB: CMC, Dobbins, Sanders. Scott, Mack
WR: Nuk, Keenan, Mooney, Patrick, Collins, Dyami
TE: Andrews, Schultz, Brevin, Akins

And then what do I do at seven? I think my team needs a receiver but at the same time I need a tight end. Would that be to earlier to pick Irv Smith, since I don't have a second round pick after the 11th but I need that one for Henderson.

I would end up with this:
1.02 Montgomery
1.04 Harry
1.07 Henderson
2.01 Irv Smith

I can almost guarantee you Fant or Hockenson will be available at 1.07. And if they aren't, just take the BPA. You're thinking too hard about it. Just take the guy you think has the best chance of panning out

Just wait and see how the draft plays out. Owners could change their minds or trade the picks away.

Montgomery
Harry
AJ Brown
JJAW

Way too early for Irv Smith and I'd pass on Fant and take Brown and JJAW, Smith should be available later in the 2nd or early 3rd for a reason. Hock is the only TE worthy of any of your picks, guys like Sternberger, Warring, Knox and Oliver will be available at decent price later on.

I am 💯 positive he is going to take those tight ends.

Unless this is a TE premium league then that's too early for so many TEs to go, let your mate ruin his team by taking both, you'll likely be able to buy one off him in a year for a cheaper price.

I would let the draft play out and go from there. I would take Harry at the 1.04 however over either TE.

Everyone ranks players differently, I believe Brown and JJAW are going to be long term very good NFL players.

Tight ends get and extra .50 per catch. Not really a premium but enough for some owners to claim tight ends are valued higher
