General Team Advice

Postby gunzwil guinea pigs » Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:48 am

Hi Guys

Was finally able to win the league last year after a 3 year rebuild. Now I want to stay at the top... do you try to go all in or do you have a more balanced approach?

Keep the depth or try to sell anything? Intrested hearing your opinion.

I would look to move a couple of pieces while they still have value but would 100% hold onto your core and take another run at it. I would move: Howard, Ito, M. Jones and Doyle if you could find some nice value in a 10 team league. You have solid top end pieces that could carry you again.

For me I like to trade my top WRs when they are 29/30 and get young studs. IE with your team Id trade Julio and a 1st and get Mike Thomas. I don't tend to keep pics on my competitive teams as I want the proven younger talent.
RBs I'll tend to do same thing but at age 27/28.
QB's and TEs - If they are studs I'm holding and hoping I have 2 studs at each position in case of injury
Team 1 (18/19 Champ)
QB- Rivers, Jimmy G, Flacco
RB- LF, Kamara, Henry, Ito, Barber, RoJo, Harris, Brieda,
WR- Hopkins, Evans, Golladay, Foster, McLaurin, Perriman
TE- Kelce, Eifert, Knox, Gronk
Taxi-R Ridley, Love

Team 2 (16/18/19 Champ)
QB- Watson, Goff
RB- Zeke, CMC, Gordon, Chubb, R Freeman, Hunt
WR- MT, M Williams, Kupp, Campbell, Chark, Ross
TE- Henry, Hooper, Andrews

Team 3 (17/18 Champ)
QB- Stafford, Murray
RB- Cook, Gurley, Lindsay, Mixon, Drake
WR- OBJ, Hopkins, TY, Kupp, K Johnson, Parker, Renfrow, Ross
TE- Kittle, I Thomas

Team 4 SF
QB- Wentz, Kelly, Lamar, Brissett, Luck, RG3
RB- Chubb, Cook, KJ, Sony, Montgomery, Gallaman, Sproles
WR- Fuller, Watkins, Sutton, Hollywood, Pettis, Moore, Lee, Funchess, Crowder
TE- Kittle, Henry, Shaheen, LaCosse
Taxi- Gaskins, Love, Harmon, Hurd, Sample

I have taken 1,3,1 and 2 the last four years. I am willing to trade anyone anytime if the price is right. I will trade my rbs around the age of 27 and ( I haven't had to do this yet) try to trade my wrs around 29/30. This way my trading partner will pay more knowing they will get more peak production out of them. I do play with coworkers and I don't want to burn too many bridges since I make at least 10 trades a year.

If you arent continually making moves that you think help your team, regardless of winning it all, then you are falling behind.

For example...team two in my sig, I won it all last year, and my roster was mostly the same.

I had AB, Derrick Henry, Josh Allen, and a couple other pieces, but i made moves to retool my WR group in which I added OBJ and Amari to go along with Thielen and Keenan. Also I moved Henry and through some other trades was able to add David Johnson.

A lot of this involved me moving 2020 picks and even a 21 1st, but it is about winning, and minus some major breakdown, my team should be poised to compete for years.

Depth is great, but you don't need that much depth. If you can consolidate some of that and turn them into studs, I think it gives you a better chance at repeating this year.
