In a rebuild: Montgomery or Melvin?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

In a rebuild: Montgomery or Melvin?

Postby WOATjohn » Sat Aug 03, 2019 12:27 pm

I am in a rebuild, maybe a year or two out, but I was offered Melvin gordon for my Montgomery and 20 1st.
That’s the initial offer but I’m sure I could do a 2nd instead.
Would it make sense?
I have Mixon, Montgomery, Miles Sanders, and McKinnon as my core RBs and Odell, Deebo, AJ brown, Anthony miller as my core WRs. I have 2 20 1st, a 2nd and 3 3rds

Ill go the opposite direction here. Hes likely competing and looking for someone that can play in the event Gordon dosnt. You can afford to hold him.

Monty and a 2nd I would do in a heartbeat. The hope for Monty is for him to be as productive as Gordon already is. Hold him and sell him big when he is back playing.

That’s my thought. Melvin’s stock will have to go back up when the saga ends.
Plus, this league determines draft order by “possible points” so the fewer points I score this year the better.

Call me crazy, but try to sell Mckinnon for picks, then sell Odell for multiple firsts and young upside WR’s. But in a rebuild keep Monty and your pick over Melvin. You don’t want any RB over 26 in a rebuild.

I just recently acquired McK in a trade and my plan is to sell him if his stock rises.

I'm on the Gordon side but only if you can get him for the 2nd instead of the 1st

He's not dead - just holding out. His stock will rise when he comes back or goes elsewhere and you could sell for a greater return at that point if you wanted to

If it's Monty + a 2nd, Gordon is still the most valuable piece in the deal IMO

Agreeing with those who said make the trade if you can swap the 1st with a 2nd.

For what it’s worth the 2020 1st that he asked for was from a super team (should be an extremely late pick).
What if I did Montgomery and the late 20 1st for Gordon and 20 2nd?

I’d buy Gordon for Monty/2nd.
